I'm pretty sure that you can already get internet through your power lines in some test areas. They'll expand it in the next couple years.

They'd have to completely redesign power supplies for it to work. Otherwise, you'd still just have two cords in the wall - one going into the power supply and one going into your modem. But if they can do that, it might work.

You DON'T really want it! What results I've heard about from the tests, as I understand, is that it totally screws up the radio spectrum. I am one who still enjoys listening to AM radio as well as FM, and it's my understandiong that the AM dial is completely destroyed anywhere near those power lines.
