well, it's been almost 90 days without a smoke for me....after nearly 33 years of a str8 pack-a-day habit, that's a bitch, believe me...i've gained roughly 20 lbs since i quit, and all of it makes me look either like the fugliest pregger ya've ever seen, or an awfully pale ethiopian...i've been grouchy as fuck, wanting to smash people and things for the tiniest reason, but able to restrain myself as i realize it's an exageration of my emotions....after all this shit, i feel i can honestly say i quit...i still have the urge to smoke, and likely will until the day they burn my body to ash, but with the help of my family, i can fight that urge....and even though i suffer the pangs, the hunger, the emotional upheaval, all i have to do is hear my kids tell me how proud they are for me to quit, and that makes it all worth while...i hope this lil tale can give inspiration to other smokers to face that ravenous hunger and cll it quits as well

Well good job, hitek! I wish I could get my dad to quit smoking, he's been doing it for just as long; BAD BAD BAD, like waking up in the middle of the night nikkin out; can't go anywhere you can't smoke like a movie theater or restaurant; can't get an indoor job... it's REAL BAD.

I wouldn't worry about the weight gain, btw, with all the crap out of your lungs you should feel healthy enough for exercise now!

Really? After 90 days without tobacco and you still feel like shit? Nicotine is removed from the system in 7-10 days. Physiologically speaking, it must be in your head. Its amazing that the mind is able to enact that much response!

to be honest, bub, it is mostly psychological...the fact is that we smokers use almost any reason to light up, mostly stress...at this time, i've found out that due to my many years of smoking, i have gum disease (partly genetic) bad enough that my teeth, every last one of em, need pulled and replaced with dentures....guess all the tar finally came off and now i'm feelin it :(
and that's enough of that...ty for the rock on, freak....i AM done smoking, regardless of the current stress and bullshit :D

Awesome, congratulations. :D

My dad smoked for nearly 30 years before he quit. He quit on my first birthday. He says it was never all too hard for him but it's really a non-issue for him now. Given time you'll definitely be completely over it.
