With morons like this so-called "Judge" sitting on the bench, it is any wonder that more and more people are, sadly, not taking the justice system in the US as seriously as they used to?

Guess he really tried to sue the pants off the guy. :D
The American justice system is disgusting right now. The way it's set up is not fair or equal to anyone. Between all the legal fees, it's not about who's right, it's about who can afford the best lawyers.
Did you know the RIAA is going around blackmailing people they catch with illegal mp3s? They've sent several letters out, many to college students, demanding outrageous figures upwards of $3500 to keep the case out of court. Obviously, they have no choice but to pay, because if it does go to court, they'll end up paying a hell of a lot more just in legal fees, and that's best-case scenario providing they win. This is black-hand extortion, and rather than doing anything about it, the legal system is taking their side and passing more bullshit legislation in their favor.

That shit has to stop (the MP3 b.s.), and I think it will soon. Someone is going to organize against these assholes doing that shit and kick their asses.

the problem here is i can understand the complaint about the mp3's, tho i disagree with their solutions...when you do a work, you should be fairly compensated....however, after a time, that work, if considered art, should become public property if not used for monetary gain...
but i do think we need to reform our justice system so that it truly reflects justice...not dollars

people have shared music for years before mp3's, even if you could not burn cd's all you have to do is have your friends over and listen to one they do not have.

shit raven...i ain't disputing that it's a stupid argument...all i'm saying is that EVERYBODY has the right to proper compensation for their work....i would be happy if they'ld just put a time limit on when they can demand compensation...hell, other than metallica, i'm think it's mostly the studios that are pissin and moanin about lost revenues....what i find hilarious, is all the dubbing that went on with the advent of the cassette recorder, and you never heard anybody crying about that

If you're all for the artist getting compensated for your work, I'm with you. Trouble is, the record companies take it all. Half the time the artist doesn't make anything from your purchase because their contract was for a specific amount. And they don't make shit from RIAA's black hand settlements. It all goes to the CEOs and other people that don't do shit.
I'd be more than happy to pay to see a concert, and I think that's how it should be.

...besides that, anyone could tape an LP onto cassettes and give them to anyone. I did it all the time with my friends.
