View Full Version : Naughty Language

This is something that has always left me perplexed, why is there a problem with using naughty language? Words such as Fuck, Bitch, Cunt and Barbara Streissand are all forbidden words to use in common public situations, with the list constantly growing. But why? It doesn't hurt anyone physically, and if other words are used the same emotional effects that it has on others can still be acheived.

I agree with you 100%. The fact that people are ofended by words which are deemed vulgar or obscene is, I feel a pretty childish notion. But I dont have any problem with people being offended, what I do have a problem with is these people trying to push thier morality on the rest of us. I have a problem with the people who try and make us stop using this language, the people who feel they have the right to ignore the constitution and decide what we can and cant say, because they feel offended. The Bill Of Rights is very clear. In America people have the right to free speech, but it dosnt say anywhere in the Constitution that people have the right to [B]NOT[B] be offended.

So why DO people have such a big problem with it? What about it twists their tits so far that they just refuse to allow us to even slip once in a while? Belching and farting too, sometimes it just has to happen, and you don't have to be of lower class to appreciate a good powerful release of gas. I almost never excuse myself when I commit this 'crime' because I don't feel that I was ever out of place!

I agree, i almost get a little upset when people look down on me for swearing, but I try not to let it bother me, I swear, fart, and belch whenever I feel the need to.

How anal can you get when the word fuck or lets just say cocksucker are used then the have to turn and make sure you notice how uncomfertable they feel about it.Man......fuck you is what I say....just a big nice fuck off and get over it. Nobody likes someone who is all anl about shit that really shouldn't be a problem. If you are that bent over it just wait........I'll be happy when I walk up right next to you and say fuck that shit and don't be such a prick.Hopfully you won't stare at me....oh no... :).....:D....hahaha.

Is this new? I'd say that the world is actually getting less uptight.
Would you like to hear your doctor say, "Fuck, nurse, this cocksucker's spewing blood all over the fucking place"? No, you expect a professional vocubulary.
If you hear a man speak with a southern accent, "I ain't got the money to pay y'all", then you'd probably brand the guy as a dumb redneck. Point is, people make massive generalizations about other people based on the few words that they've heard those people say. Someone who spews a curse word every sentence just doesn't look too bright to me. Just look at truth.357; he's a great example.
There's a time and place for "fuck". Funerals? No. Job interviews? No. 95% of all other possible social situations? Yes. If you're with a crowd that quiets up whenever you say "shit", well, then it's probably time to find new friends.

I was an electrician working on wiring a hot tub and the plumber was on site that day. I don't remember the circumstances, but I used the word nipple in a technical reference and he said to me...shhh we don't use that word in my company. How the fuck can you not use the word nipple as a PLUMBER He was basically some bible thumping christian coalition type, but still.

I know it's religion but in this case NIPPLE wasn't even directly referring to any part of a womans anatomy. It was referring to a pipe nipple. How would you talk about male and female connectors in computers cars, anything if you were religous? It just seems like complete and total *ahem* bullshit :)

precisely. Religion(or religious people) think they can tell people what to say, what not to say, what to think, what not to think, what to believe, what not to believe, what to do, and what not to do.

Okay...here is my deal...There are certain times and places to use a 'naughty word'. Get over it...that's how it will always be...you can't change it and I don't think I want it to change. As for the people who look down on you for cussing...FUCK THEM!

Hear here! (Or however that line is intended to be spelled...) But I think that things are changing in the wrong direction. People are saying now that it's okay to use certain words that are otherwise cuss words as long as they are in certain context, and it gets too complicated. Because of this complication, and new cuss words being labeled so frequently, many people are becoming way too uptight with the issue. Just like the plumbing example. I say use it sparingly, know when to use them, and don't get so mother-fucking offended if someone screws up on when that is! As long as they're not screwing it up constantly.;)

Naughty words have a time and a place. You sound wittier when you don't use them, but sometimes nothing else will really get the point accross as well. But the bible thumpers are really going to far with it. As an example when songs are radio edited they not only remove Carlin's classic seven, but they also remove all refrences to drugs and guns. All the ones they get anyway. I have heard the words quarters, nickels, and dimes removed from a song. And the number nine. When did that become dirty? Am I being wholly inapproriate when I make change? What the fuck?:D

The media is going way overboard trying to bleep out every last little thing that may be offensive to some group in some way. What really needs to happen is to let TV and radio say and show whatever they want to, and force the people who care to look at the ratings and decide for themselves if they want to hear/see what's on, so we all get what we're looking for! Hell, nowadays there should be an option with your TiVO to bleep or blur certain content. That way, even if the dipshit parents can't keep track of what their kids watch they can at least control what they're able to watch!
Stop forcing us to live by YOUR standards!!

Haha, go to You Tube and search for "unnecessary censorship". It's a sketch Jimmy Kimmel does at the end of every episode of his show, where they "bleep and blur things from the week in television, whether they need it or not". It's hillarious.

I am sick of being treated like I'm eight because someone else won't do their job. Lazy parents need to stop ruining entertainment for the rest of us. There is no need to censor these things. If you don't want your kids to watch something, turn off the TV, put on a movie, read to them. Put shows with very adult content on at night. While I agree there are things children shouldn't see and hear. You do have control over their environment. Take the TV out of their room, and teengagers should'nt have a computer in their room. I know that will piss of my teenage peers here, but you know the trouble out there for you to get into. I sit through hours of kids programing to assure my kids safe fun programing, and that the other stations can show you guys all the filth you want.

There is a certain aura that exudes from cursing: aggression, anger and malice. Don't intend them? Say the words all the time? Regardless that is how I and many others will precieve the words. It is far too embedded into the past. Cursing was invented to notify hate or convey anger in words that are small and common. Cursing is an attempt of a mind to voice itself verbally when his or her vocabulary won't do the trick.
Nowdays, however, people seem to like these words as adjectives in every sentence they conjure. What's the point? Do we want cursing to become normal as an attempt of rebellion? The other evening I was in a resturant when this girl on her cellphone started chirping the word 'Fuck' about ten times right around families. Ditsy teenage girl, self-centered and loud. I do not want every person I know to use those words, because our language is just to vast to restrict our expressions that way.
And finally I will admit, I am a teenage with a computer in his room. I know the troubles out there, and I know to stay away from them. Seems like common sense. Guess it's not for everyone.

Nowdays, however, people seem to like these words as adjectives in every sentence they conjure.
They only do this because they know that society tells them that they shouldn't and they want to rebel. If we could only stop being so stupid and accept all words into our vocabulary the use of the previously forbidden words will probably increase a bit at the beginning, but it would quickly lose its affect and the rebels will realize that they're no longer rebelling, and so get bored of it.

That's partially why I advocate the excessive usage of the word, "nigger". Because the more you use the word, the more you assimilate it into your language habits, and the less offensive it gets.
Unless the person saying it says it with hatred, "nigger" is only offensive to a black person because that black person is taught to be offended by it.

...but only if a white person says it. And I don't think that they're really offended by it anymore either. I think that they are just looking for ways to take more control of this country, but they are doing it with double standards.

I agree that a lot of black people who kick a white man's ass for saying "nigger" are just looking for an excuse, but I also know people who are offended by the mere mention of the word, which I think is silly. You can call me a dago, guinea, wap, greaseball, goombah, mick, kraut, etc. I don't care. In fact I find it funny when people use them. Perhaps black people still feel like we're overpowering them or something, because to be so offended by someone saying a word... maybe they're just afraid.

Maybe you don't mind being called those things, but were you ancestors called that right before they were beaten and hung from whatever was handy? I have livind in the north and in the south, I have seen the diffrences in reactions. The closer you get to where the most violence happened the more the sensitivity. You guys live in places not really known for racism. There is a town about 20 min from me that has an active chapter of the KKK (they have parades) and just about eight years ago there was a black man dragged to death behind a pickup truck in Texas. It doesn't suprise me when black people here react badly to the word nigger. The only word I can think of as charged with violence as a white man calling a black man an nigger is a German calling a Jew a kike. Now I know your thinking that they call each other nigger, but not really they call each other nigga, and the r does make a diffrence. And a cool white guy can get away will calling a black man their nigga.
