i've been following this case as long as it's been in the news...now you whom ive talked and debated with know how strongly i feel about the word of law...in this situation, the law needs either changed or clarified....this young man's life is going to be ruined if nothing's done...

the thing is, i could understand it, support it even, but only if the guy was way older than her, and i'm talkin in his mid to late 20's...i know many teen girls that are promiscuous, and tho i don't condone the behaviour, many men are terrible at guessing age, if ya know what i mean...specially when the girls states her age as older than she is:cool:

But if she lies about her age, would he be a criminal then?

But if the guy was 17, he was younger than the age of consent too, in most states. I know it's 17 in New York, but what is it in Texas?

see, this is where you just have to bring in common sense...if she looks like a cracked-out 15 year old wearing too much makeup, then ya should probably run....some you can tell more than others, but dammit, it gets difficult...of course, if more parents took their responsibilities seriously, then i doubt this discussion would ever have taken place

I don't know how accurate that is, but the age of consent here in NC is 16.
