Recently in the news / internet, there has been talk on the fact that no one has landed on the moon in many years. President Bush says we will be there again by 2018. There is also talk of landing a team on Mars.
Should USA spend the money on the exploration when we have so many other matters that need attention?
Should we make it a joint venture with a number of nations contributing to the cost?
Russia, Japan, China, Germany, Israel, Australia, France, Canada, England, South Korea, would all have scientists, resources, and most likely funds to contribute to such a program.
Should we not form a World Space Exploration Organization?
Will joint exploration projects in some way contribute or be instrumental to World Peace?

Absolutely we should, for these, among other reasons http://forum.bullshit.com/images/icons/icon14.gif ...
* Do we want China getting there first? ...Hell No!!
* The technology and economic spin offs out do the cost to the tax payer by a historic factor of about 1 to 5; for every one dollar spent on the project, about five dollars in national wealth is created and distributed to the public in the first few years alone. That economic growth continues for decades.

Abso-fucking-lutely! And it would be a step closer to world peace, wich we need.
And I must admit that I was about to disagree with freak, but I agree when I come to think about it. We don't want China to have control of space.
And who the hell knows, I might get a job there. :D

another good question...i fully support space exploration, but for different reasons...1st and foremost, whether ya wanna face it or not, mankind is a parasite...we use resources for the furtherment of our race...our planet right now is not an endless supply for resources....2nd, our science is starting to stagnate....we need to further our space exploration in order to advance, and it seems to me that nobody is willing to realize this...will it give us world peace?...you gotta be smokin some bad shit if you think so....mankind will never be a peaceful critter...there's just too many different ways of thinking as well as people that cannot agree with anything...

Carl Sagan stated in Cosmos that using Mars (or other planets) for resources is way beyond what we are capable of.

Space exploration was never a threat to the economy, if it was, we would have already simply pulled the plug on it. If you would like to resolve real issues that are crippling our economy, try health care, imports, and welfare.
Space exploration keeps us ambitious, motivated, and dedicated to learn as much as we can about our never-ending cosmos.

Space exploration could either provide a solution, or increase the problem....depending on what we find out there in space, and who or what we find with it.

You have to admit, though, it's a little harder to jump into space than it is to swim across the ocean. :D
