far be it for me to spread urban myths, but i've heard a couple of possible originations...the first one i heard was that the word started in england, and supposedly meant "fornication under consent of king" meaning that nobles of that era had to have permission from the crown to marry and procreate...dunno how likely it is, but it's just another example of over-governing...
second one i understand to be from the early american era...it was a criminal charge and sounds a lil more closer to truth...stood for "for unlawful carnal knowledge"....
now, when i did a wiki search for the word, (yeah, i had a bit of time on my hands:D )this is what i came up with, and, no pun intended...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuck

when i did a google, i found this site that seems entertaining...libs go porno, apparently...

An interesting page about the origins of English swear words, and the differences between British and American usage.

I think you mean the origin of the word "fuck". The origin of the word "fu_k" was for people like Wally who have virgin ears, or eyes in this case. :D

I didn't read the links you guys posted about this but I do remember seeing something like this on the history channel.

For Unlawful Carnel Knowledge was abbreviated above the stocks, hence F.U.C.K., when someone was caught in the act of adultery or fornication so people knew why they were detained that way.

Quite possible, I never actually read the facts or researched it , just what I saw on TV and read here and there.
