Shouldn't there have been a serious issue of maintaining balance on the bike, since, you know, he was missing a RATHER IMPORTANT guide at this point? Sure it was below the knee, but I think it would be hard to stay on a bike afterwards regardless...

my biggest problem with this story, since i've thought about it...wouldn't that have seperated the femoral artery as well?...if so, he should have bled to death within a few minutes...:cool:

I don't know... historically, servicemen would have their arms or legs amputated (without any medication or anything) and they survived...
