Until about a century ago the government mostly stayed out of people's lives. Then they figured out that they could control and dominate the people by making everyday activity into a "privilege" controlled by the government. They created a required license for driving, marriage, building your house, every normal part of living. Its all bureaucracy gone nuts.
Funny how the liberals always want MORE government except when special classes of people are involved.

More power to the state and less to the feds, that's what I say. http://forum.bullshit.com/images/icons/icon14.gif
Requiring a license to drive is a good thing, IMO. It mostly keeps people who are unqualified off the road and gives cops a reason to force those people off the road. Marriage and property licenses, on the other hand, are a little much. I don't think the government needs to be that involved.
However, unlike Gen, I will recognize these laws until I can do something about them. (No offense, Gen. :p)

It's kind of ironic, really…liberals tend to bitch (A LOT) about being poor and blame the government for it… yet want more government involvement in everything (= raise the taxes… up up and away!)

So what's wrong with doubling my taxes to finance lazy assholes' crack addictions?
...OK, maybe not. :D
