Hi Something,
We have:
N=N*fp ne fl fi fc fL
Well, interesting equation that is supposed to tell us something about how many space aliens we can expect to find in the universe. Problem is, I don't think it really has anything to do with science for the following reasons:
None of the variables can be known and only a few can even be estimated. Take for example fi, that is the percentage of planets where intelligent life can be expected to evolve. Trying to come up with a number there would be pure guesswork.
It can't be tested, proven or even falsified, so that makes it pseudoscience in my book, similar to astrology.
