As you have well known certain subjects should not be frowned upon.Well this should be.I mean honestly if people found themselves in love with the oppisite sex they should embrace there love in there own way and there is nothing on this earth that is going to stop that.I am sorry people want to make this a big deal so your getting married.....congragulations....really get married go out in public an hold hands.Im fucking seriuosly thining how we as people can not just let these things just happen.Come on man let it go....if your going to be this uptight about shit especially if it has nothing to do with you just grow the fuck up.I would like anybody to come to my face and say I can't marry a black girl or white girl .....cause I will straight bet the fuck at of that person. You cannot i mean CANNOT hold it against somebody just because its with the same sex...and don't put the whole GOD card in this because you now what back in the Roman times it was tolerated and it should be ok for anybody to get married. And yes it should still be called a marrige not a fuckin union.Who ever calls it a union should know that the unions just are for people who can't deal with there problems and became little bitches about shit at work.
Fuck everyone.....it the truth.357

Man, that opening, "As you have well known certain subjects should not be frowned upon." reads like a badly written seventh-grade essay. Hilarious.
I'm with you 75%. Yes, if two people love each other, regardless of whether those people are black, white, gay, or Michael Jackson, then damn the rest of the world. BTW, the Romans are probably a bad example... Christianity and the popular, modern "God" didn't come into power until the end of their reign.
The word "marriage", however, describes a union of a man and a woman. Period. Be creative and make up your own word.

Why dont we just call all marriages "unions"?

We do, the difference is that we do not want to call a gay union a marriage because a marriage is defined as including a man and a woman in the union.

You got it,
ALL MARIAGES ARE UNIONS
This does not (and should not) make all unions mariages.

Why though, tell me this....how can you a, person of at least understanding, tell me the actuall meaning of a word describe it as a gender role instead saying like a child "MAKE UP YOUR OWN WORD...ITS WAS OURS FIRST" come on grow up and let it go.

It's more than that. It is a word that has much significance throughout history. It has strong religious backgrounds tied into it, and most religions find that homosexuality is sinful, or wrong in its essence. I honestly don't agree with the act of getting married when it is not performed under religious construct because of what it means to me. If it is not being done this way, it should only be called a union. The government doesn't need to step in and give special tax breaks to married couples either, that only takes more of the spiritual meaning of getting married away. Tell the government to give tax breaks for committed couples if they wish, but not to bring down the sacred act of marriage.

You know time waits for no one and only traditionalists truly die out. Have you ever seen or heard of something last for so long and people still use today......no.Not happenen and never will cause the truth is times always a changin...and you got to change with it.

Wrong. That type of thinking is what's being fed to us, but it dosn't make it true. I think that is the highschool complex, change to what appears to be popular to fit in. Does absolute truth change? Even if no one knows the absolute truth, it exists and it remains constant. I don't need to change because people in hollywood want to make everything equal as to not "offend anyone".
Maybe it lasted so long because it has value. Like brain said it is rooted deeply in religion. Making marriage any two human beings would literally take away the significance it holds. It would be yet another step in the relativistic, or "anything goes" mindset. Human beings were made to be with the opposit sex, designed to have children. People of the same sex can only hope to gain orgasms off eachother, sorry to say....
Well like assholes we all have opinions. So there's mine.

how about this:
how about since a gay couple getting married DOES NOT AFFECT your life ONE SINGLE BIT, you back the fuck off them.
who the fuck cares what OTHER people do in their personal lives? i don't. if two guys want to get hitched, i'm not standing in their way, and neither should intolerant pricks like you.
and as for the arguement that marriage is sacred? bull fucking shit. when the divorce rate in america is 50%, marriage is anything but sacred.
first it was the native americans, then the african-americans, then women, and now homosexuals. when will you fucks learn to stop hating what is different from yourselves?
