I've tried out many of them, and I believe that LimeWire has given me the fastest transfers but even with that software, after a few weeks of using it my download speed slows WAY down until it is pointless to try anymore because all the downloads max out at less than a meg/second. There are ways to remedy this, but it requires tricking the LimeWire software into thinking that you are a new user once again.

The best media sharing software is....drum roll, please - Windows Explorer! a DOS command line! An X Window System file browser of your choice! Etc, etc!

I copy every CD that I get my hands on. Guess what? My system runs great, too. No viruses, spyware, trojans, goddamned, !@!@#@#$ Kazaa Buddy ape-thing, etc! I stopped using that junk and I stopped caring about having a bootlegged copy of every movie the day that it's released in theaters!

Napster was cool, about six years ago. Early versions of Kazaa were an okay replacement. It's been nothing but crap, hassle, and trouble since then.

Go outside.

Well like my funny friend up there I use Limewire...I usually don't have any problems with it and I don't download big files so it works great all of the time! Oh and I fucking hate kazzaa or however the hell you spell that stupid-shit word!

Lol limewire HAHAHAH Kazzaaa MUHAHAHA.. Yea right your more likely to get spyware/virus/trojans etc using those.. lol

Wait fer it......................................... """((( BitTorrents)))""" Requires some brains to use (Not much) but it is THE best way to get stuf nowdays.

I easily get 100-250kbs Depending on how many seeders etc there are.

Makes downloading a 1.5gig file only 1-2 hours :)

cheers mate

Viruses aren't all that much of a problem, one quick format of your main hard drive and it's like they were never there!

In Other Words...wipe all the data off of your hard drive and start all over like you just bought the computer....with no operating system installed!

No, actually it's something that I do quite frequently...about twice a year to keep my computer running smoothly :)

Not that it's not a pain to do....it generally takes a couple of days to first reformat the harddrive, and then get back up and running everything that it could before. But after you're done the improvement is very noticable and it makes you feel glad that you took the effort to do something about it. Kinda like cleaning out the expired food from the fridge...and then scrubbing out the grime that it left behind!

Sounds pretty sick..but I get it!

Yep, and then you can start once more downloading everything that you find until all the viruses slow your computer down to speeds that remind you of of the 90s, and then start all over again!

limewire rocks , and if I keep my security sotware on , I don't get viruses, but it does slow down the download speed.

Yea, it rocks for the first couple weeks anyways. I like to download movies and TV shows though....some from a long time ago, and they start slowing down to around 2k/s. With the size of these files that's just way too slow for me. I'm tempted to purchase the software to speed things up, but I don't really know if it will create enough improvement for it to be worth it.

Ah, I mainly download music, so it doesn't slow down too much.

That's cool. I just learned a trick that helped to start making the Video downloads a whole lot faster. Once you find a video that you're looking for with a good download speed, right-click on the downloading file and choose "Browse Host." They're more than likely to have more of the videos that you're looking for plus a list of all the hosts that they got it from as well. If one download works well with them, then the others ought to too! I'm back up to around 100kb/s in total!!!

Do you know to right click and search for that specific file, it will jump up the number of hosts and speed things up.

Brains_Behind_Operation

Yea, but first you have to find that file which has a lot of hosts....

I generally use bittorrent and eMule. Finding things is a bit of an art, which is hard to explain at times. Kazaa was coded by monkeys, but there's a Kazaa lite. Neither of them work on my ISP anymore though. I never liked Limewire although I did meet a friend on there once. Funny thing is, we got to be good friends and then she ditched me without saying a word, and for no apparent reason. But that's another subject.
