The new ones weren't done nearly as well as the original series, but that's no reason to call it gay. They're still good movies, Lucas just needed to spend more time putting the new set together.

I think Star Wars was one of the most phenomenal films of my generation. Then they fucked up all the prequels for your generation. And yes, you are confused... join the club!

The three first movies, are just AWESOME, Episode I was a dissapointment in some ways, but hey it's Star Wars! Episode II was better, and Episode III was cool, but still it felt like watching a very detailed cartoon. It is too stylized.

Episode 1 would have been just fine if they had cut out Jar Jar. He was alright the first time watching it, but every time after that he just gets more and more stupid and annoying. Episode was an improvement, but it didn't advance the story line nearly as well as it should have and very little really happened in it. Episode 3 would then have been better if they had for one, NOT killed Padme during child birth. Leia explains the images that she remembers of her mother, but how could she remember mommy at all if she died while pushing the bastards out of her cunt? I also thought that it could have been a lot better if Anakin had actually gone around battling and killing most of the other Jedi, instead of just slaughtering the children. They missed out on some awesome saber battle opportunities by not doing it this way, and really disapointed me because I was certain that was what was going to happen.

Star Wars Gay?!?!? wtf? In those drab ass clothes?
kidding
They are groundbreaking films. Without them there are so many other films that would never have been made, or would be less without them. That said Jar-jar just sucked. Star Wars is not about slap-stick.

You watched The 3 Stooges for that kinda stuff, not Sci-Fi Movies. And anyways, Shemp was nothing compared to his predecessor Curly. They just needed to add someone to replace the deceased and Shemp was the best they could find.

You really are a dumbass. You know that right? Go back and look at the post I was referring to. It is grammatically twisted, making it difficult to understand even when you do know the background of the person posting it. And this last post of yours is either poorly punctuated or worded even worse. You're an idiot to put a question mark at the end of a statement that has been worded the way that you did.
But you are right, it is not gay. Even though the prequel was a big disappointment it didn't even get close to bad enough to be labeled so cruelly.

BBQ - We are not going to do this again are we? I am a meticulous bitch. I will go through your posts one by one and find all your mistakes, as I have done before. You need to get out of the role of grammar and spelling police as well as your high horse.

Take all those sex toys out of your ass and try to realize that I was only clarifying my understanding of what you were saying because it could have been deciphered other ways and the only reason that I was able to interpret it properly is because I know you.

First of all,... I have never used sex toys.
Second,... I, like you, write as I speak and for dramatic effect. This style is not grammatically correct. Just because I do this on this forum does not mean that all my writings are of the same style.
I would appreciate it if you could just ask for clarification when I write something that you don’t understand. I grow tired of you using my style as a method to discredit the meaning behind it or the humor involved.

Star Trek is good, but it doesn't have the Action, Emotion, or Quality of Acting that is present in Star Wars. Don't get me wrong, I love both, but Star Wars excels in these important categories.

What? You think that Gene Roddenberry was the only person to ever fantasize about the possibilities of space? I don't think that Star Wars and Star Trek had any creative connections at all.

As a writer I think the Star Wars series is a very good work of fiction. I also think it kind of relates to what I percieve to be happening to America. I think the prequel trilogy was good but the original trilogy was so much better.
I have mixed feelings about Star Trek. I don't really care for TNG. I pretty much don't like any of the characters in TNG except for Data and maybe Picard. Most of the episodes basically just go straight ahead, whereas Star Wars has a lot of twists and turns. You're always guessing in Star Wars and there's always things going on.
Star Trek is really kind of predictable, and you always know they're not going to have any idea what the problem is until five minutes until the end, at which time they'll quickly come up with some kind of 24th century pseudo-scientific vocabulary word and introduce it as the name of some kind of weird-ass piece of technology that has never been seen in the series and won't be seen again. This piece of technology will inevitably take exactly two seconds less to work than the total time they have, partially to increase suspense and partially to fill in the last five minutes of the show.
Now mind you there are some good episodes too. But for the most part they're way too focused on solving things with new pieces of technology and not enough focus on teamwork, heroism, interesting plot devices, and so on.
The original Star Trek series was a lot better in my opinion. The special effects were really hokey but when it came down to it, it had much stronger stories and much better characters. When it comes down to it, that's all that really matters. The movies were also very good. The Voyage Home would be one of the best except I didn't care for how the whole whales thing was thrown in. I really don't ask to see environmental propaganda when I watch a work of fiction, but it was still a good movie.
Even though the Trek movies and the original series were good, I still think Star Wars blows them out of the water.

I actually didn't think Jar Jar was that annoying, lol
One thing I noticed between the original trilogy and the prequels is the lightsaber battles are done differently. In the originals they look like they just gave the actors swords or whatever and told them to have at it. Whereas in the prequels, they really went into that whole "lightsaber form" thing, and had the actors carefully and precisely carry out every move. I liked the flashiness of the prequels, especially Mustafar, but I wonder if they didn't maybe take that whole thing just a bit far.

I have to disagree completely. I think that TNG did a lot better job of keeping their plots interesting than the original did. It seemed that the original Trek spent the majority of their voyages coming into contact with some new God-Like being and never really came across any interesting problems. And whenever they went on away missions some nobody ensign or two would be brought along with them and the second you see that nobody joining the crew you know he's dead. It's inevitable, every single away mission killed everyone EXCEPT for the title cast. I haven't yet seen a show from the original Trek that didn't come across as extremely hokey for these reasons or others. I've always been a fan of TNG, and you really can't leave out La Forge as one of the good characters can you?

... "lightsaber form" ... but I wonder if they didn't maybe take that whole thing just a bit far.
I think that was the best part of the prequels. The only bad thing about it is that it makes you realize how boring the saber batles were in the original trilogy when you watch the entire saga.
General Septem
07-12-2006, 08:21 PM
Haha, actually I do like LaForge now that you mention him, but he may not be all that memorable. :p
I still like TNG though. I just think a lot of the episodes are really cookie-cutterish. Plus I've seen them all many times, so that's partially why they're so predictable too.

Yeah, the special effects really stood out in the prequel trilogy. I wouldn't say the original trilogy was boring because of it though. It manages to be exciting in other ways.

Yes, the original stays exciting with the exciting story. The prequel could have had just as exciting a story, but George was too high on himself, wrote it all by himself and didn't ask for any outside criticism before proceeding with his less than effective plot lines. I think that I could have given him some good input on how to really make the movies better, so a BIG Star Wars fan could have done even more!

The light saber battles in the new triliogy are set in a diffrent time in their history, the Jedi still held their temple, and were still being trained. In the older movies they had lost their center, the battles were either between barely trained swordsmen or old men.
TNG was a nice departure from a captain who tried to fuck anything in a skirt. And the first ones were hokey, they couldn't even fall in the same direction when they suffered a single strike. But you must love Spock,Scottie and Bones. I love the greater interaction with the Klingons. I must say that Captain Janeway's voice is most grating.
General Septem

I agree about the hokiness, but I don't think that matters when it comes to story. Sure it makes you laugh when everyone falls in different directions, but at the same time if the story's more interesting I think that's more important. Like the episode where Kirk was put on trial for allegedly killing a fellow officer. I don't remember as much of TOS as I do TNG though, so I can't really say much about the stories. But I do think they had a better cast. I don't really like Picard. Something about him just gets on my nerves.

TNG actually made use of their entire cast. I never really cared for either Dr. Polaski or Crusher, (Crusher still much better), but the rest of them had good roles on every show. TOS barely ever used more than Kirk, Spock and Bones in any story lines. The others were just there to show that the ship had a significantly sized crew of officers.
