What is the best video game now & Why?

Summer has arrived, (for those of us in college anyways), and I need something to keep me busy for the next 4 months without wasting my time at some worthless job. So I'm looking for suggestions from everyone what they think is the best video game to get right now, (with a limit of xBox or earlier consoles) that will make me wish the Summer never ended! POST NOW!!!!

The best video game out right now is Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for the PS2. It includes the first two games that started the series plus a kick ass version of MGS3: Snake Eater. There are also more Snake vs. Monkey missions and the cover picture is awesome.

By far the best game I've ever played was MGS, but I haven't played MGS 2 or 3.

Does anyone know if it's remotely possible to find a Japanese version of MGS with English subs? Or even just a full Japanese version for that matter, as I know the gist of the dialogue anyway.

Such serious gamers, why not the new Tom Clancy Ghost Recon , I think there is more to the title, it's the newest release of the series and looks incredible, if you are serious about pushing you game that's the one. But if you are just looking for an interesting way to kill the summer, Whacked for the X-Box is killer fun.

Myself, I prefer Socom 3. I think the lag, the glitching queers and the childish arguements keep the brain going pretty fast. Out witt the ebonics speaking ghetto teenager that went 15 and 3 because he proxied into a wall. What could be a better use of your free time.
