Mexico Complains Of Too Many Repatriated Mexicans

Mon, 04/07/2008 - 15:28 — Judicial Watch Blog (http://www.judicialwatch.org/user/judicial-watch-blog) The U.S. border state leading the battle against illegal immigration with unprecedented tough laws has received complaints from Mexico’s government that too many Mexicans have been repatriated and the country is overwhelmed with demands for housing, jobs and schools.

Fed up with the devastating effect of illegal immigration, Arizona has enacted the nation’s toughest laws to curb the problem and evidently its working. State legislators have passed laws barring illegal immigrants from receiving government services, posting bail for serious crimes and winning punitive damages in lawsuits. This year a new law makes it illegal for businesses to hire undocumented workers and those that do can be shut down.
The state legislator who sponsored the work bill, Representative Russell Pearce, says the law’s undeniably positive effects include smaller class sizes, shorter emergency room waits and an overall huge savings to taxpayers. The Republican congressman drafted the bill because studies revealed that illegal immigration cost Arizona taxpayers over $2 billion annually (http://www.azconservative.org/PearceOn200.htm), not including the toll of crime and destruction.

It turns out that enough illegal immigrants have either fled the U.S. or been deported that officials in the Mexican state of Sonora (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la), which shares an extensive border with Arizona, have complained that too many of their fellow countrymen have returned. They miss the remittances sent from the U.S. as well as smaller class sizes in local schools.

Mexican government officials knew Arizona’s tough employment verification law would become their worst nightmare, which explains why they tried blocking it. Earlier this year a delegation of nine legislators from Sonora toured Tucson and held a news conference to say that their beloved state cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and schools resulting from illegal Mexican workers returning home.

One baffled Mexican legislator, Leticia Amparano Gamez, asked in Spanish “how can they pass a law like this?” (http://www.tucsoncitizen.com/ss/border/74193.php) She went on to explain that Mexico is not prepared for the “tremendous problems” it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and sending money to their families return to hometowns in Sonora without jobs. Another member of the Mexican delegation, Representative Florencio Diaz Armenta, asked “what do we do with the repatriated?”

Any sovereign nation should be allowed to police their boarders. You mention free movement of labor which has been reeking havoc on our economy by way of stagnating the price paid for that labor. While the cost of living has gone up the wages paid for jobs filled by illegal workers has not, creating what are known as "jobs Americans won't do". Initially this was farm labor but has expanded to food services, hospitality services and construction. Twenty years ago a kid out of high school could get a job hanging sheetrock for $18.00/hour but today the same job pays $12/hour. This is why we have these "jobs Americans wont do".

This issue was never about race. I don’t give a rat’s ass what color anyone is... what pisses me off is when hordes of dumbass freeloading immigrants conspire against the people of my country (all the while being too lazy to learn the language); and it just so happens that all of the people creating these problems are *GASP* MEXICANS! Yes there are injustices all over the world that need to be righted, but we can't fix them all. I am not even sure we can fix those we have taken on. Also we would have trouble getting the international support we should have had going into Iraq. Our government has tried to get some kind of allegance to deal with Darfur, and can't. Even in such a clear cut case of murder and genocide it is hard to gather people behind you.

I am not trying to justify anything, I just don't like to see blame being put onto the wrong people, and so I defend those I think need defense.

Even in such a clear cut case of murder and genocide it is hard to gather people behind you.

I am not trying to justify anything, I just don't like to see blame being put onto the wrong people, and so I defend those I think need defense.

You say you are half white and half Indian, and you say you have seen the unfortunate victims of this war. Are you claiming to have seen them in person? Or were you looking at the same photo's that anyone really paying attention here has seen?

Like I said before I don't support this war, I believe there will be fighting until we leave and after we leave. If the Iraqi people want us out we shold go, but I beleive if the Iraqis want us to stay longer so they are better prepared for our departure then we should not abandon them. We have abandoned too many peoples already.

I am against illegal immigration, and let me put that clear.

Now we have the Federal Institutions full of Mexicans, it cost $1.33 a day to keep them in there, to feed them to keep them cold in summer and hot in winter.
and they in change produce a lot of jobs for american, correctional officer, medical, chaplans etc. we are the only country I know we keep the illegal immigrant in jail.

I wonder how many American are in Jail in Mexico?, Is well know when you go to el Paso Texas, the stream of American going to Mexico every day is as big as Mexican coming to the state, is true a lot of us we just go down there for the Nick Nacks and real Mexican Food, which I love. But if you go you can see how open the prostitution is down there for the Gringoes. Is a shame to see all these guys going down there to use prostitutes because they are cheaper. Oh well I guess there is not easy answer.
