I rember Rick Monday when he was with the K.C. A's. To bad he wasn't in step to knee that guy in the head, while he retreved the flag, all in perfect syncronysation. the same time that people spat in the faces of soldiers, returning from Vietnam, which is what this peticular attempted flag burning episode was about. Hail to Rick Monday!!!!!!

Too bad they tried to use matches. They would've burned it if they'd used an aim-a-flame or something.
Personally I don't see what the big deal would've been if they'd burned the flag. In fact I think holding the flag that high almost qualifies as idolatry.

It's like spitting in the face of your boss. Sure, it really doesn't hurt anyone, but it is showing ultimate disrespect for something that deserves your ultimate respect. If you don't give it this, then you probably don't belong at your job any more than you belong in your country when committing the act.

EXACTLY! If you don’t like it LEAVE IT! No one is stopping you. Get out and enjoy life in another country.
I am not saying this maliciously. I truly hope that people who are unhappy where they live find a better life somewhere else. Why suffer?

Hah. I just might. But for now I'm stuck here. This doesn't have anything to do with what I said, though: a piece of fabric doesn't deserve respect. Perhaps what it stands for deserves respect, but the flag itself is worthless. It's just a symbol. I will admit I've had hostile feelings toward the American flag before.

The problem isn't with what is happening to a piece of fabric, it's the message that is being passed. If the CEO of some company wrote on a blank piece of paper "Our company is complete crap! -- CEO," it wouldn't mean a damned thing to anyone. But if he was seen by numerous people writing the same message on a piece of paper with the company's well known logo, it would tear the reputation of the company apart.
