Speaking of Johnny Depp movies, this is actually my fave.

Dark cult classic. "The Ninth Gate".

Depp stars as a rare book collector and dealer that is set off by Langella (a weathly publisher in NY) to find all three remaining copies of "The Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows" a book supposedly written by the devil.

The movie has a lot of twists and a very interesting ending - if you truly follow what is REALLY happening in the movie.

Stars Depp and Frank Langella.

Teriffic movie IMO.

Good call ballzack! :D
Great flick.... depp is a versatile actor he's been known for taking the rolls that most hollywood a- listers would not dare to touch.
The ninth gate, fear and loathing, dead man and many others my personal favorite would have to be Ed Wood.
did ya catch that one ?

True, Haw.

I have grown to respect Depp as an actor because of movies like "The Ninth Gate". Pirates was fun, but not exactly a deep role that called for hard-core acting skills.

I'll have to check out your Reco. Thanks for the tip.

I read somewhere also that eric stoltz was cast originally for the ninth gate.
Not sure though, it does sound like a roll that would interest him.
Another great actor of independent culture. :D
