... who... cares? I know olympic gold medals are the greatest accomplishment for those who do this, but why does everyone else have to obsess over it. I think they should be admired, but starting a website just to say Phelps cheated, Especially if it was a .001 second difference?

If it was only by .001 of a second, then it's not really worth debating anyway, in fact if I was keeping time, I'd have called it a draw.

What a load of horse shit. Then again, anyone who is successful will be the ass-end of conspiracy theories galore. It literally does not matter how much you deserve that success or how obvious it is that you do. It doesn't even matter how much good you put that success to work toward.

Besides, maybe the other guy reached his arms a little further, but Phelps's center of gravity was clearly ahead.

What's amazing to me is that now the technology exists to actually time things to 1/100th of a second.
Amazing.

1/10th the blink of an eye. Yikes.

Actually, they were able to time it to the ten thousandth of a second, which is what they ended up having to do to confirm Phelps's victory. But, any closer than a hundredth of a second and they would have had to call it a tie.

Indeed it is. I'm always impressed by the high-speed camera shoots they show on Mythbusters whenever they blow something up.
