Whew.
This book should be under "Fantasy" in the library.
I make it a point to see what the left is thinking.
I've read radical left wing bullshit before, but this one takes the cake.
Frankin is a nut-job. He and Michael Moore should get together and discuss doing a documentary on nut-jobs of the Democratic party. That may be the only good thing these two wack-o's would do that may earn them a place in the "Rational Thought" hall of fame.
If you are a rational-thought person, or, a conservative and want to see what one of the left liberals is thinking, go to the library and give this one a read. Don't buy it, as, after all, Frankin is a socialist that does NOT want or need YOUR money for his book, he just wants your money for social reform!;)

Intresting article. But it is not the whole story. The Bear Sterns, AIG, and Lehman brothers were not part of the bill that would have tamed Freddie and Fannie (which were only made private in the sixties to help LBJ fund his war)
These other institutions were sunk by mortgage backed securities and credit default swaps . Those shadow markets were made expressly unregulated in 2000 in a bill brought to the floor by Phil Graham. McCain's economic advisor.

Promethius,
Buddy, your posts crack me up. Just when I think there is no more humor left in the world, I read your posts.
Holy shit. Funny as hell. Man, you slay me. Keep up the good work. We need clowns like you to add humor while we try and make this economy better for everyone! :D You and Frankin can check each others hind quarters for hemerrhoids while I finish my lunch. Frankin hides behind "comedy" but is really a left wing wack-o nut-job, kind of like you, yes?
I'd love to stay and chat, but I have a meeting to go to. I'll be putting more premium gas in the fine German import and listening to Satellite radio on my way there.
Shit, I'm still laughing! :p Fucking hilarious post, dude. Fucking HILARIOUS! Ahh, I'm in tears laughing so hard! Whew!
Thanks for the chuckle!

You are missing the point.Take away Fannie and Freddie, or regulate them more wisely, and it's hard to imagine how these highly liquid markets would ever have emerged. This whole mess would never have happened.Bear Sterns, AIG, and Lehman brothers crashed due to mortgage backed securities bought from Freddie and Fannie.

"You A proponents are evil fascists, your tactics won't solve anything!"

Wow, dude. Thank you for the large red letters, I tend to have difficulties reading small, black text.
"of our money into thier pockets.... efectivly socializing several banks and insurance companies"
Since when have you been anti-socialism Mr. "Sure, I'm a Marxist"?
"You would rather take cheap shots at a fucking comdian then talk about anything of real substance."
Not sure if you knew this, but this "comedian" has been trying to run for office in Minnesota for the last 5 years, and is, therefore, just another politician.
" as well as your selective listening, self intrest and ignorance"
Coming from the guy that mysteriously leaves a topic when he gets destroyed in a debate...this one literally made me laugh out loud

I always wondered how Michael Moore can move around the country so well, being as much of a fatass as he is. Then it hit me, he is carried to places by Al Franken. :D

Indeed, General.
Like you, I work out regularly, I am in to endurance sports, and I lift weights four times a week to maintain muscle mass.
Moore probably has not lifted more than a fork for over 20 years.
Sad.
And they call you and I as conservatives fat-asses? Yea. OK. At Six foot 1 and 190 lbs, fat I am not.

Absolutely right. What Fannie and Freddie did was like throwing raw meat to sharks. Without F & F (run by Clinton cronies and democratic insiders), the sharks would have been constrained by reality.
Why can't these morons just leave the free market alone? If anything, the gov't should have worked on the supply side by making it cheaper for builders to build houses or by encouraging cities to make more land available for building or whatever. This would have brought prices down and helped people get into homes that way.

al franken and michael moore are nothing alike. franken is more of a left wing democrat. moore hates everyone equally, one of the reasons i like him.
look at the facts, the book clearly shows many instances where Conservative ... hmm... buttfaces:D blatantly like like third graders. that's pretty much all i got out of the book, aside from a few good laughs.

Don't buy it for a moment.
Prome said Frankin was a "Comedian". So why believe a comic? That's a laugh! :D
Might as well believe the far right too, yes? So read Bill O'Reilly's books. That will put a kink in your political slinky.
I read these books for amusement. I'd never take them for fact.
If you like comedy, try "Republican Party Reptile" by O'Rourke. Now THAT'S funny! ;)

No sir. It's too slanted. You can bend factual data enough to highlight just about any viewpoint you wish given the talent, and I do admit, Frankin is good at doing this.
Sure, a few of his purported items resonate, but most are drivel.
Bill Mahr also hides behind "comedy" to push his political agenda.
To be fare, Dennis Miller is the opposite right-wing comedian. However, I don't think he's running for Governor like Frankin. At least to the best of my knowlege.

As a far-left socialist, usually Democrat aligned Minnesotan, you'd think I'd love Franken.
Actually I despise the man. I have seen many of his ads, many of what he says, and quite frankly it boils down to this:
My opponent is bad. I am good, because he is bad. You should vote for a good person, me!
Of course, that makes no damn sense. He a dick, a prick, an idiot, and an asshole, with absolutely no message and hasn't really said anything about actual policy. Alright, Coleman is bad. What exactly are you going to change?
Now, I'm no fan of Coleman, but quite frankly I have far fewer qualms about voting for him than Franken, who is a giant douche, to say the least.
I'm a liberal socialist. I approve this message.

Franken's running for Senate, not Governor. If Franken were to become governor, that wouldn't be the final straw in my state(Which I actually like, despite some disagreements), it would be the 2-ton car dropped on the camel's back, and I would proceed to punch everyone I meet in the face.
Remember: Socialist here.

No, the joke won't be on me. It won't even be a joke. Jokes are funny. If he gets elected, it will be sad, sad indeed.
Like I said, I'm a socialist, and I would rather support Coleman, being as how, you know, he is actually somewhat decent, and has an actual platform. I have disagreed with some of his policies, but quite frankly Franken would do a lot of harm, and no good. So, really the choice is simple being that Coleman would do some harm, but some good to(Or at the least some harm, in my eyes).
Some harm is better that a lot of harm. Hell, I don't even have that much of a problem with Coleman except for a handful of ideaological principles and minor disagreements on policy. Franken doesn't even have a principle for me to disagree with, as well as no policies at all.
Also, it should be noted that a group of Minnesota Democrats put up some money to make an attack ad against Franken, due to the fact that he is such a giant douche. Let it be known that not even Minnesotan Democrats want Franken representing us in the Senate. How he garnered so much support is beyond me.

My concern with all comedians whom decide they would make great politicians is that their cynicism for any established decorum up to that point may pollute their judgment. Maybe not, however, it's a concern of mine. And I'm not being leftist or rightist. I think any of them would cause me concern. Frankin, Mahr, or Miller. That covers left, sort-of-middle-swinging-to-the-left, and right. ;)
