That was a really stupid thing to do.

Ok, I downloaded the 2.6.27-4 kernel DEBs from Intrepid's repo, and tried to force them into Hardy. Well this could just have well ripped a hole in the time-space continuum.

First reboot, I get the kernel version for servers. Well this completely fucked up my mouse and my sound. So I had to ALT+F2 and run gksu startupmanager to enable the other kernel versions, well after that, I reboot, this time into 2.6.27-4 generic, the mouse works, and the sound partially, but just about halfway through logging in, the damn thing completely freezes, which I'm guessing is GNOME's way of saying kernel panic.

So after that, I'm like aw fuck, because if the damn server kernel weouldn't boot again and let me enable 2.6.24, then I'm pretty much up shit creek without a paddle, because I would have to pop in the install disc and reinstall the whole fucking OS, and start everything over, just to get the damn thing to work.

But fortunately, it let me reboot and now I'm back in 2.6.24.

Damn I'm glad that wasn't worse!!!
