I just started school online, after being out of college for 4 years and I'm finding it so hard to focus and stay motivated to complete my classes. Any tips or suggestions you can give me? I've already committed so much money i don't want to drop off.

my wife started online classes about 2 years ago, and she has similar problems...you need to remember what motivated you to start...set small goals for each class and follow through, and hopefully your family and friends will support you...find somebody to help push you to complete assignments when they're due...that's about all i can tell you, other than good luck ;)

If you are attending an accredited school then odds are you have a sylabus to work from. My best advice having taken many online courses is to look at it and set time for yourself to bite off pieces of it before they occur. Online course work usually demands a lot of time on your part for documentation and reading.
Simply put get ahead from the start and stay there and you'll do just fine... also make use of your peers web mail links... talk with them... many have the same frustrations... use division of labor and team work skills to help each other by bouncing ideas and assignments off each others heads... cut your work load this way...
Most likely you'll find that many of these students will be taking similar classes to yours in the courses to come...
Hope that helps

I understand how that must feel. Distance learning requires alot of commitment, motivation, time management and staying connected with your classmates and instructors if you have to succeed. You also must set aside some time of the day where you tune your mind to actually do your class work, a quiet place in the house. Also don't forget to reward yourself after every achievement.
