If any of you show up, i'ld like to wish all of you (yes, even you, prometheus) a warm, happy thanksgiving to all of you, your friends and family. Remember that today isn't about food, football and beer (such words! :D ), it's about what we have to be thankful for.

I can't wait for my deep fried turkey. If any of you havn't tried one yet, do it now. It has become a true American tradition...take something delicious...and deep fry it.

Happy Turkey Day to all.

The only thing you should be thankfull for is that the indians ( natives ) didnt have guns too, or an ammunity to small pox. I dont celebrate the wholesale slaughter and genocide of millions of innocent native americans. I also find it bothersome that people are so unfamiliar with thier own history that we as a people stiil celebrate this morbid holoday. Its like robbing and killing some one, then every body celebrating its anniversry. Imagine the german people celebating a " Holocaust day ".

I totally agree.

I've no idea what Thanksgiving is, but if you're all spending today with your families, I'll wish you all the best.

I'm off for a family meal myself; it's my brother in law's 40th, so I'll raise a glass of warm beer to my yank friends

Have a GREAT one E! And thanks.

PromIdiot is a Waste of Sperm. He's a GREAT laugh, and a good tension reliever, but trying to debate him is like trying to pull CAROB SEEDS OUT OF CAMEL DUNG, which by the way he EATS! :D I say this because he's probably going to be living in Afghanistan soon, so he might as well get used to camels.

But oh the comic relief. You gotta' love the sheer comedic iambic pentameter of his rants! (let him look that one up!)

Most schools in America try to tell that Thanksgiving is a holiday to celebrate and be thankful for the friendship with the Indians. We were not their friends if you look through real history and facts. The events that took place show that we in fact slaughtered them to take over their lands. Much like we have done to many ever since. People think of the Pilgrims and Indians sitting down to a big feast and celebrating. It seems that did happen only one time! The real truth about Thanksgiving is below for those that care to read on.

The real story of Thanksgiving began in 1614 when a band of English explorers sailed home to England with a ship full of Patuxet Indians bound for slavery. They left a gift called smallpox for the remaining Indians. That virtually wiped out those who had escaped the explorers. When the Pilgrims arrived in Massachusetts Bay they found only one living Patuxet Indian. The Indians name was Squanto. He not only survived slavery in England but he also knew their language. Squanto taught the pilgrims to grow corn and to fish. Squanto negotiated a peace treaty between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Nation. At the end of their first year, the Pilgrims held a great feast honoring Squanto and the Wampanoags.

Sadly the word spread in England about the land found in the new world. It seems that the Pilgrims were all talking of taking over the lands. Soon after the word of the new land spread the religious zealots called Puritans began arriving by boats to the (so called) new found lands. (These lands were not new to the Indians for it had been their home and land long before and evil Pilgrims set foot there.) Since there were no fences or security around the land they considered it to be in the public domain. With the help of other British settlers they captured strong young Native Americans for slaves and killed the rest. They then took over the land from the Indians that remained living. The Pequot Nation had not agreed to the peace treaty Squanto had negotiated and they fought back. The Pequot War was one of the bloodiest Indian wars ever fought. The Pilgrims killed all Indian Tribes & took over the lands in a brutal way.

In 1637 about 700 men, women and children of the Pequot Tribe had gathered for their annual Green Corn Festival. That is what they call our Thanksgiving celebration. In the early morning hours the sleeping Indians were surrounded by English and Dutch mercenaries. It is said they then ordered them to come outside. Those who came out were shot or clubbed to death. The terrified women and children who huddled inside and some were burned alive. The next day the governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony declared "A Day Of Thanksgiving" because 700 unarmed men, women and children had been murdered. Sadly that is the story of Thanksgiving that has been documented in many places and it is the facts that they try to hide from most Americans.

THANKSGIVING one of the sick American Holidays or did you look up American Holiday Thanksgiving? Obviously Thanksgiving is an American thing. What other country would celebrate the mass murder of people to take over lands. Of course Thanksgiving is so American and a true day of sorrow and time to remember the Indians

How do you eat with no teeth, you loser? :D

Go out and earn a living, build something for yourself, PromIdiot, rather than bitching about America, and we'll give you some credence.
Otherwise, you're nothing more than a cloudy day in my world. I deal with men whom drive this country. Why would I waste my time with a loser?

Where were YOU when I was building my company and nearly losing my house and my car to debt in the process? Did I call you and say 'hey, PromIdiot, can I borrow a cup of money? Oh wait, you HAVE NONE. Why? BECAUSE YOU'RE A LOSER!"

I represent what you hate. Hard work and success. On the other hand, you represent what I laugh at. SHIT for BRAINS.

So eat shit and keep us laughing, you bozo! You could not debate your way out of paper bag.

The ONLY thing you've ever done in your life that will EVER amount to ANYTHING is marry your wife and have your kid. Other than that, NADA. ZIP. ZERO, which SUMS UP YOUR SORRY ASS!

I'd love to stay and debate but you are incapable.

So until I see another post I can laugh at from you....

What we need in America is a way to force Anti-American losers like you to have to serve in Afghanistan. For four years. Call it a college education. Then WE, the PEOPLE that love and support this country decide IF and WHEN you get back in. Otherwise, you can stay there and eat Camel dung. Not that you are unfamiliar with this process.

the same to you, zack...btw, you should look up the nutrition of a deep fried turkey, i think you'ld be surprised...this is based on a 13.6 oz. serving:
Calories 648 Calories from Fat 198

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

% Daily Value *
Total Fat 22g 34%
Saturated Fat 6g 30%
Cholesterol 202mg 67%
Sodium 598mg 25%
Total Carbohydrate 46g 15%
Dietary Fiber 4g 16%
Sugars 2g
Protein 66g 132%

now that's a pretty big chunk of bird, but you can see it isn't nearly as bad as you thought :D

There was a special about this on the news... I think the suggested servings were 2 tsp of turkey, 2 tsp of mashed potatoes, and 2 tsp of stuffing, with no limit on corn.

BULLSHIT!

How about enough Turkey to fill both hands, dip 'em in the gravy (and not that crappy giblet gravy, I'm talking MUSHROOM gravy), at least a plate of mashed potatoes dipped in butter and slathered with gravy, and enough rolls to fill a bakery... then save room for pie! Don't forget a 12-pack of beer while you're at it. :D

Sorry I didn't catch this earlier, but Happy Thanksgiving everyone. :D

I'm grateful for my amazing girlfriend and generous family. I'm also grateful to be alive, given all the opportunities I've had to either get myself killed or seriously injured. I'm also grateful for my intelligence, which I know that, although I have put work in to nurture it, it is a gift nonetheless.

Prometheus, what you're saying may well be how the traditions associated with Thanksgiving came about, but seriously, that has nothing to do with what the holiday is today. Honestly, though, the fact that you don't celebrate Thanksgiving is poetic. It exemplifies your incapability to be thankful for anything.

Those who are truly rich are those who can appreciate the life they have. Even people living in a trailer can consider themselves rich. Unfortunately it appears you cannot call yourself rich in any sense of the word, which is unfortunate given the fact that you have a loving family that needs you. Sooner or later it's going to be time to give up the fight and just be thankful you've got what you have.

We had a feast this Thanksgiving. We always take the opportunity to clean house a bit before the family comes over. This year my girlfriend joined us. She said it was the best thanksgiving she'd ever had, and I'd have to say it was the best I've had too. The turkey was moist and tender all the way through. We always brine it, and then we have this trick we picked up from TV where we start the turkey at 500 for 30 minutes, and then put foil over the breast and finish cooking at 350.

I ran 3 miles yesterday, and 2 miles today, and just returned from my club where I swam 1 mile and hit the weights. I'm not worried about losing my physique. :D

Even despite all the pie, I think I ate better yesterday than I have in a while. I'm usually starving all the time, so I enjoyed having all the food I could possibly eat, and I'm enjoying having leftovers whenever I want it. I think when I own my own home I'm going to cook a turkey every few months.

You remember how I said I was going to try to cut down on grains? Well yesterday I had a big dinner roll, lots of stuffing, and plenty of pie. Last night I suffered from severe nasal congestion, which still hasn't cleared up yet. I've talked to people who say that grains to that to them, and it dawned on me that before I cut down on the grains I used to be congested all the time. I'm just glad we decided not to serve pasta last night.
