I can run on the track during school. 4 laps= 1 mile.
I can also lift weights there too so it's a win-win. I always either go run or lift when I finish my work. And I wake up at 5. Damn Zack, how the hell do you wake up that early?

My workout consists of...
Monday - Bench and Squat corelifts, then various auxillary lifts working on the triceps and back muscles.
Tuesday - Powerclean and Military corelifts, then various auxillary lifts working on biceps and abdominal muscles.
Wednesday - Day off
Thursday - Repeat Monday, except do less lifts on the back workouts and instead focus heavily on triceps.
Friday - Repeat Tuesday, add in a few extra workouts at the end just to make my muscles dead tired before the weekend.
Weekend - Do the occasional set of pushups, situps, or curls. Once the weather over here in Washington stops being retarded I will swim laps in my pool on weekends and possibly every other day depending on the ammount of homework i have.

Get on a bike or swim. OR the Elliptical at gyms.
Running is going to be too strenuous to start.
You need to REBUILD your lower arterial blood vessels that have been damaged from the smoking.
That will take two years of regular AEROBIC exercise.
You also need to combine it with weight training. Muscle mass keeps you lean and burns calories even when you are not exercising. You'll actually look leaner than you weigh if you pack on muscle.
in a suit, you'd guess me at 175. I'm 190-195 depending. Muscle mass is deceiving.

What do you guys do to stay healthy - smart-ass comments aside. Seriously. What's up with that.
Every day for cardio I have sex six times per day and then I use liberals as punching bags and live targets for martial arts practice. :D
Alright, seriously here's what I do.
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I take Taekwondo. That's pretty intense especially when sparring is involved. I am always dead after a couple rounds of sparring. I think martial arts is very important to my training. Lifting weights builds muscle, martial arts gives that muscle a purpose.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and sometimes Friday I hit the weight room. I follow Matt Reynolds' "Dual Factor Training" plan which he has outlined on bodybuilding.com. I try to do two upper body days and two lower body days per week, alternating which routine I do on Monday so that I give each half of the body the same amount of attention, since I usually don't have time on Friday.
I try to eat right and maintain a consistent sleep cycle with eight hours of sleep every night. As you can tell by the time at which I am posting this, the consistent sleep cycle part generally falls apart.
My diet probably consists of high calories, but I burn them. I stay away from sugary foods for the most part (I do not want diabetes), but I do eat fatty meats (mainly beef). I also try to eat eggs.
The reason I eat more fat than what some would consider healthy is for a few reasons. The first is, I have heard that if the body gets used to burning fat, it will burn its own fat easier. The second is that animal fats contain vitamins, and also the body synthesizes hormones (including T) from fat and cholesterol. The third is that I have heard that animal fat aids in the digestion of meat protein. I don't know if any of this is true, or if it would work for most people, but it seems to me like my body is telling me to do so, especially since it is nearly impossible for me to eat any appreciable amount of meat if it is too lean.
I don't really listen to nutrition experts, instead I prefer to become an expert myself and know exactly what to eat and why.

The school has a decent sized track and a pretty good gym so I'm pretty good on that. On weekends I go out and hang with friends. We usually walk around seeing what we can do. So we burn calories and build leg muscle because we get bored. :)

A 345lb squat at the age of 16 is damn near impossible unless you're incredibly gifted. I'm guessing you have horrible form and squat about a quarter of the way down. I'm not trying to be a jackass or anything, but you should really look into using proper form so you don't blowout your knees. Some common mistakes most guys make:
Feet too close together. You want your feet at least shoulder width apart, and squat "in between" them if you can picture that.
Moving their knees too far forward. Try and keep them over your heels at all times, but certainly do not let them travel further forward than the tip of your toes.
Not going down far enough. If you're not sitting on your calves when you squat, you aren't a whole lot better off than if you didn't squat to begin with. If you do everything else correctly, you can squat without putting any strain on your knees at all.
A good exercise for developing the squat is to sit in the squat position with no weight on your back for an extended period of time. You will get used to it in time. If you feel any strain in your knees, they are too far forward. Get used to keeping them completely perpendicular to the ground when in the squat position. Once you get that down, just practice getting from that position into a standing position keeping your back straight.
If you're like almost every other guy at my gym, you can "squat" more than me, but since I squat correctly I can actually leg press twice what you can. Don't feel bad, just having 345lbs on your back is an accomplishment, so I suspect that after a couple months of doing them right you should be a monster.

It depends on what you are trying to develop stregnth in. whatever you are doing you should get a workout partner though, you will push each other to achieve more than you would if you just worked out by yourself.

do various bicep and tricep workouts then, most of the bicep workouts are curls and there are many different types of tricep workouts. It is sorta hard to explain how to do them all on here so your best bet would be to go to the gym and ask them for all the different things that do bicep and tricep workouts.
i would also recommend that you do other workouts as well, isolating certain muscles is great for getting them strong but at the same time you will look like a deuschbag when you have arms that are bigger than your legs :p
I would say the best workout to do when you want to isolate just the biceps and triceps is to get 4 different workout stations and do a tricep workout, a bicep workout, another tricep workout, and another bicep workout, and just do rotations at these, don't just stay at one station and do all your sets and then move to another, make sure to mix it up.

Haha ok, in my opinion, strong legs are better than strong arms anyday. But just keep working out your arms, eat tons of protein, and drink a LOT of water. Also work out your chest if your working out your arms, do benchpress, decline, and incline for that...also don't forget that doing pushups and situps at home are great for getting a strong upperbody.
General Septem
03-31-2009, 06:50 AM
Tree trunk legs and a decent upper body always beat an Arnold upper body and chicken legs. Squatting will also release massive amounts of hormones to put your body in growth mode.
Don't waste your time with isolation triceps and biceps exercises though. Do heavy compound lifts that exercise groups of muscles, such as low incline chest presses (flat bench can fuck up your shoulders), shoulder presses and DB rows. Those will hit all of your upper body muscles including your arms, so you don't get lopsided. Also try underhand barbell rows if you're comfortable doing so. Just keep your back straight when you do them.
Also, the consensus among most weight trainers is to do one exercise and then move on. Unless you are doing a superset, doing a set of some other muscle in between sets of another muscle lets your muscles get way too rested between sets. So do a set, rest for a minute, and do another.
In a nutshell: squat, do compound lifts, and don't circuit train.
Timper: Since I haven't seen you lift I'll take your word for it, since you say you've been lifting for a long time. I still say rock bottom is best, but parallel is good too (powerlifters go parallel). Since you squat parallel that's fine. Anything above parallel (95% of the guys in my gym) is garbage.

I see where your coming from with the non-isolation and non-circut training things General, but Baron said he wanted to get his arms big. I had said he should work out everything and not just his arms but if he didn't really want to do that I was just telling him what i thought was good.
And about the circut training, I lift at my school weightroom with 3 or 4 different people. What we used to do is...Do a set, wait for other people to do their sets, do another set, and repeat until we had finished our sets. Doing the circut has made it so that we are constantly working out instead of wasting up to 3 minutes waiting for the other people in the lifting group to finish.
And about the ass-to-grass squatting...I have tried it before and actually used to do it alot but my football coaches said it is bad for your knees (i've noticed my coaches actually know shit about lifting) and they bitched and whined at me about it until i decided i would just go parallel on my maxes to get them to stop bitching.

It sounds to me like your gym doesn't have enough equipment for everyone to use, so I guess you have to make do with what you can. I feel your pain, school gyms suck.

Coaches are opinionated by nature, which is why I don't really take sides on the issue. I've heard ATG is actually better for your knees than parallel, if you do them correctly. Who knows. I take what coaches say with a grain of salt, but that said you still have to put up with them. As long as you're making progress and not getting hurt it does not really matter, so make your coaches happy and you'll be fine.
I don't exactly want my arms big (because believe it or not I do have muscles) I just want my arms to be stronger
If you want strong arms, then definitely compound lifts are the way to go, since your overall arm strength relies on all of your upper body muscles. For a guy who does parkour, you probably don't want to add much mass either since that adds lots of weight.
That in mind, I would recommend keeping the reps in the 5-rep range, though you should do more than that on your warmup sets. Super high volume will emphasize mass and not so much strength. Don't try to max out too often because at your age (even at my age, actually) you will hurt yourself.
Also, if you bench press, I would recommend incline. Flat benching can destroy your shoulders if something goes wrong.
