sweet ride there Zack or should i say Mr . President
Here's my story-no shit
In 2002 I was gonna put my 1100 Honda Shadow away for the winter (move it from house garage to big garage to store it). It's mid Nov. and 60% out. I figure I'll take if for one last ride instead of putting it straight away.Went to the local hardware store for something that I don't remember. On the way back, I'm going 55 and... bang. Hit a fucking deer broadside.Fly off the scooter and tumble down the road with various body parts hitting on each revolution.Seem like I was flipping for 5 minutes.I remember thinking "Is this ever going to end".
Anyway I broke 6 ribs, my scapula, right ankle and heel. The healing process required me to get up and around after about 10 days.Try to negotiate a walker while not being allowed to put ANY weight on one leg with 6 broken ribs.:)
I'm rambling. After 1 1/2 years with a walker or wheel chair I could finally walk unassisted.Went back to work after 2 years.I still walk like Festus:D (we'll see how old you all are). The heel is the worst thing that you can break.Trust me.
Point is, I had one of those hot ugly full face helmets on.I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that it would have been my last day alive without a helmet.I still have my perty face.
Funny thing. I killed the deer.About 6 months later my brother hit one 100 yards away with a minivan. The cops had to come and shoot it.I told him what a pussy he is.I killed mine with a Honda.:D
A pic of my fat ass with the roadrash:

good fuckin greif, mak...at least you were smart enough to put yer bucket on...glad to see it wasn't any worse, but a quick question...do ya talk like festus too? :D
used to love touring on my lil 440 supersport, but got tired of dodging inattentive asswipes and got told by the cops i wasn't allowed to mount my shotgun to the bars to make people aware of my presence
sheesh, try to make things safer
i will never own a crotch rocket for one simple fact...i enjoy life...lol...if the machine has the capability to go extremely fast, i'm gonna do it...in other words, i ain't got the common sense to own one

Haw, a 750 is not a little bike!
I'm old enough to remember when a Norton Commando 750 was THE bike and KING of the road.
Plus, you have a classic bike. Those are going to be GOLD when cap and trade kicks in and you end up riding that bike as primary transportation in the summer because of $4.50 a gallon gas.
I have a few bikes.
One is a V-Twin 700 Cruiser.
Love it.
TONS of power. Hell, the damn thing will go 95 mph. That's FAST ENOUGH for most people, and, it gets 65 miles per gallon... let me repeat that.... 65 miles per gallon!
My new Duke gets only about 25 or 30 mpg. But oh, what fun, it is, to RIDE!
:D
I'm always tempted to go bad-ass and put on a thin leather jacket, and some chaps and head out. But if you kiss the road, you've not basically no protection. I always opt for ballistic padded jacket and pants. You go down (and i have) you walk away, if you know how to slide.

Ever see a superbike rider go down at 185 mph?
He slides for a few hundred yards, gets back on the bike, rides off.
It's amazing.

Cool. I wonder. Can you be taxed for building a rowboat for fishing? That would make a nice replacement. Use exercise as an excuse to fish.
