Want some REAL comparison on Global Warming?

OK, well, about 500 years ago, the Catholic Church was about the largest "Governing Body" in Europe. About that time (give or take) the Catholic Church needed to raise money. They did not have the ability to just go to the public whom was already very poor and tell them they HAD to give more money to the church.
SOOOO, they came up with a real scheme. It was total bullshit, but they said that for a FEE you could PAY your way out of hell. THAT'S RIGHT!!! You could , ahem, TRADE your sins for CREDITS and when you died your credits would pave the way to heaven for you sinners. OH, YEE SUCKERS!!! They called credits "Indulgences". That's were that word comes from. Sins were taken care of by buying INDULGENCE CREDITS. It worked. The suckers paid and paid and paid for these credits.

FAST FORWARD to 2009. AlGorre and his bullshit followers are now saying we can buy CARBON CREDITS for our indulgences. Fuck, we're living and breathing! We have the AUDACITY to live and try and live well. But alas, we sin. We drive a car. We eat healthy food that must be trucked in from far away. We sit in air conditioning. For SHAME! But if we buy these CARBON CREDITS (from his company) we'll be ABSOLVED! Hey, like the Catholic Church and their INDULGENCE CREDITS, it's absolute TOTAL BULLSHIT, but it's working! It will cost each of us tens of thousands of dollars and make people like Algorre EXTREMELY wealthy. But hey, he deserves it. He's the prophet! Or was it MISFIT? I forget...

Get the picture?

OH, YEEE SUCKERS!!!!!

Good comparison.

Thanks mate.
The fact that this bullshit has caught fire and is taking hold is amazing, but no more amazing than paying your way out of hell.

I have an insider on Algorre, and you would not believe the "indulgences" this jackhole takes. But, he pays HIMSELF back through HIS company by buying carbon credits back to HIMSELF for his INDULGENCES.

Good grief. The utter bullshit of it all is amazing. I guess I'd have to be a stark-raving left wild-winger to understand the logic. Or lack thereof. ;)

Indeed.
Can say no more.

The man is like most politicians, so says the mole.
Driven by Money, Power and Greed. The holy trinity.
What better way to do this but via fear mongering.
If we don't do this, we'll die.
A very old, and trusty system of government.

That is just about the best comparison between the two I have seen. It's a perfect example.

The Catholic Church is becoming more of a taboo. Poor church leaders is mainly the reason. And the fact that a few priests give in to urges that they have sworn to the Lord not to give into.

Everyone feels the need to procreate. The whole Catholic Church has been tabooed as child molestors because of the actions of a few.

Catholicism needs someone who will purge the priestly caste of people who break their oaths to God. Eventually, I hope to see the Church have a lot of it's stereotypes lessened.

There are over a billion Catholics in the world. The vast majority are decent people. The problem in my opinion is mandatory celibacy among priests. Stupid idea, keeps a lot of sexually normal and healthy men from becoming priests. The catholic church has a purely "top down" structure, that's were all the stupid shit originates from. To be fair, the church as a whole does a lot of good things and helps a lot of people.

If you look at donations of Catholics, everyone manages to dig down deep and pull out a little money to help their church and their community. The church I go to is in need of fixing. During the summer they can't turn the air on because it only heats so people are baking. They also do a fish fry every Friday and other different things. I think they also have a soup kitchen. The oath of celibacy is something that they have made to the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. If they can follow this oath their entire lives then they show true commitment to the church and to our Lord.

Basically, the celibacy among preists is there so preists can be fully devoted to the church and not a wife

Church is bullshit, there is no reason to go there unless you want to "learn" about god, and even then that is a stupid reason because you are supposed to find the meaning of god and existence within yourself

I don't want to get into a pissing contest with Catholics over doctrine because I would rather focus on the dangers to this country posed by the Obama and the Dems.

Having said that, weren't all the apostles including Paul married with the exception of John? Having wives and children seemed to be no problem for them. If a priest wants to be celibate, fine, but barring married men from the priesthood is discriminatory and counterproductive and is one of the reasons why the priesthood is dominated by men with homosexual tendencies. A good wife can be a huge help to a man, not a hindrance.

I guess that's true. I don't think Peter was. I could be wrong.
