For a year or so I told myself that there was no freaking way I was going to use or wear in public a Blue-Tooth "Cellular Phone Headsets." I thought people looked like some goofy version of the Borg with the stupid looking blue (or other color) blinking light on their ears. But, I gave in to the convenience of one and picked up the Motorola/GI Motorola Bluetooth Headset (Price: $47.00).

This one...

I found this explanation of the etymology of the word "Bluetooth" :

"The name Bluetooth is derived from the cognomen of a 10th century king of Denmark, Harald Bluetooth. According to the inventors of the Bluetooth technology, Harald engaged in diplomacy which led warring parties to negotiate with each other, making Bluetooth a fitting name for their technology, which allows different devices to talk to each other." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth)

But I am still unclear as to what it means.

So is it better than using your phone regularly? Do you know why it is called a blue tooth?

I use it in my car, push one button on my ear and I am talking to anyone in my contact list in my cell. It is called "Blue-tooth" because it uses "Blue-tooth" wireless tecnology.

See...

Lord god! You must think I am an idiot to think I dont know that it uses "bluetooth technology" I was speaking of etymology of the word (which I answered for myself).

Push one button? How do you distinguish which person you wish to call in your list that way?

It's a brand name more than anything. It is a wireless device that replaces an ear phone wire. But Bluetooth technology can be used to connect any electronic devices...there are blue tooth wireless mouses, key boards, USB drives, etc.

It uses the voice activated contact list of your cell phone. I push the button onn the Bluetooth ear device, my phone says (in my ear using the Bluetooth device)..."say a name or other command"...I speak..."call, Bob, home" my phone says "did you say call Bob home?" I answer "yes." and my cell dials the contact automatically. It's that easy and VERY cool. :D

I'm actually only working on really one big story, but it's really big, encompasses several novels. It's kind of what you would get if you mixed V for Vendetta, Star Wars, Mobile Suit Gundam, Dirty Harry, The Godfather, Harry Potter, and probably several other movies and such that I've gotten inspiration from. It also features a DC comic superhero-type character who goes by the name "Seven" and is kind of a cross between V, Batman, and the Jedi.

Essentially the story is about a somewhat near future, about 150 years from now. The American Empire rules the entire world. John Septem, a young man who holds a seat on the council of the A.T.R.A., an old alliance originally founded to preserve freedom, decides the A.T.R.A. has sat around long enough and that the time has come to restore peace and freedom to the galaxy...

My only problem is that I have to write it down, which is a little time consuming. :D

My dad once bought Windows XP Professional from this guy online. It wasn't eBay but it was a similar site. He says it was called Price-something. He had lots of good feedback and everything, but did not list his real name or any kind of contact information. He was selling it for almost half what it had been sold elsewhere. It never ended up showing up, and by the time PayPal got around to contacting them to break their kneecaps to try and get our money back, they'd already closed up shop and probably set up another site.

Bluetooth is just a wireless connection. It's just a way of transmitting data. You'd need some other advice to take your voice commands and give it to the bluetooth to transmit.

I do actually buy from eBay every once in a while, but I'm also very careful that someone's not bullshitting me. When something's half price it sends up a red flag. :D

beelzeBorg...does your cell have voice activated dialing? Can you choose a function (like voice activated dialing) when you are not using your BlueTooth ear phone? If you can, you should be able to do so with your ear phone. Do they have tech support for the device? I would call them and ask.

Most phones do. If it doesn't, than your BlueTooth device will not have it either. The BlueTooth device just extends the capabilities of your cell phone.
