My first impression of you was formed when I joined the board years ago. You seemed kinda bitter and hardcore at that time, but admittedly, you have moderated your views somewhat. You are obviously not a Marxist, just a garden variety liberal on most issues. In what ways do you consider yourself a fiscal conservative?

Overall: I say this because I would like to see a reduction in overall government spending. The more money the government has the more corruption is funded. I also would also like to see elimination of the deficit and national debt as well as a balanced federal budget. I think that the USA would remain the most POWERFUL nation on the planet if we could get our books in line.

Personally: I hate the way we do WELFARE! I think people that don't work should not be supported (unless they cannot due to a LEGITIMATE disability. I think welfare enables people to be LAZY and worthless.

I have also seen first hand the waste governments do with taxpayer money that could have been better used in the hands of the people that had to fork it over.

Yeah, can't disagree with you on any of those points. That is a fiscally conservative position but also a common sense position based on what be know about human nature. If you reward people for doing nothing, they will quite happily take the money and keep doing nothing.

I have a deadbeat brother who collected welfare and sat on his ass for years, buying booze with his welfare check. After years, the government told him they were going to cut him off. What did he do? Die a miserable death under a bridge somewhere? Nope, he went out and got a job and started supporting himself. He's having a little trouble staying off the sauce, but at least he is being productive again because he has to make a living to support himself.

I have a crack whore niece that wants her kids back so the government will pay her to "take care of them". My family took the kids away from her after she went to jail. She is worthless.

got 4 of em, bub...lone has made something of herself, married to a helluva good man, and got all of her kids back...not from any government rehab plan, but because of a guy that made her want to go straight...she's now an assistant manager of a chain store, and doing awesome...i'm damned near as proud of her as i am of my daughter.

That's cool tek, I don't know the whole story but it's always good to hear stories of triumph!

As Hitek's story shows, some people can get their act together. Don't totally give up on her as you just never know. Crack and Meth have an unbelievable ability to completely destroy lives. Sad really.

Thanks for sharing some hope. I don't want to give up on her but she has been putting her Mother and Father through hell for over 8 years. She has raised these kids in horrible environments (public housing, drug dens and on and on). She is the most selfish "mother" I have ever seen.

I wish she would clean up her act but, like you said, meth has a strong hold on people. Every time I see her I cant stop looking at the scars on her face where she had picked and picked at it until holes formed. Disgusting.

Its also hard for me because she put her kids through hell and now my sister and my sister-in law are raising HER kids instead of enjoying their freedom. Its not fair.

It pleases me to hear you say you are proud of your daughter. I really admire that :-)

thanks, bub, limbo, and yee...my point was that as long as there's breath, there's hope...meth is a nasty fucking man-made lolocaust waiting to happen...those neices of mine were extremely beautiful in their youth, possibly even model caliber...now, even the one who straightened out, look like dried out prunes left in the sun too long...
bub, i'm glad to see your family taking care of the little ones, that might be the only chance at a normal life they get.
