What the question we should be addressing is, what will OUR government do about this? Will we say, it is not right for you to murder innocent 9 year old girls and rape them just because they stole a piece of candy! All little kids steal at one point or another, and they learn their lesson if you give 'em a good ass whacking(I know I did....).

Is this right? Should this be allowed to continue? Because according to Obama, ignoring it is the best answer....but we all know how I feel about Obama...so I'll let one of his supporters discuss his position on this, if he even has a position on it.

Congratulations!!!! You missed the point ENTIRELY!!!!! I wasn't making the point that Christianity is as bad as Islam. The point I was making is that shit like this comes from unquestioned religious authority. I was using the Catholic theocracy as emphasis on that point, not saying it's still evil. The point is, religion SHOULD BE 100% SEPARATE FROM GOVERNMENT IN ORDER TO STOP SHIT LIKE THIS FROM HAPPENING. In fact, we even need to go so far as to place Constitutional limits on religion, i.e. your freedom of religion does not include the right to blow up buildings in the name of Allah.

Like I said, I don't have a problem with religion itself, I have a problem with oppression in the name of religion, i.e., Christians, atheists are not BOUND BY THE SAME RULES YOU BIND YOURSELF BY, they are free to have sex with their own gender because they aren't binding themselves by the rules of a 4000+ year old book which also endorses slavery and murder on the basis of religion.

Xecenism is my religion, so I can pretty much mold it to what I want to be. I've actually made it a law under Xecenism that other people can have whatever religion they want. It is, in fact, considered a sin in my religion to shun a person based on their faith alone.

How many societies in the world have an unquestioned theocratic government? Very few. Those that do, be it Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, etc, almost always have very barbaric laws. The problems arise moreso from political control than religious idealogues.
