ignore the title, but some school districts have tried to make same-sex schools, in other words, girls only, and boys only schools, which i am against, becouse of this, if you keep girls and boys separate throughout elementary and middle, and dont introduce them until high school, lets face it, its gonna be a disaster, and stupid questions like "why are you different" would arise, not only that, but it would be like having a bunch of first graders saying "eww.... cooites" so i owuld like to know everyones opinions about this.

It's not a yes or no thing. I think parents and students should have the choice. Sometimes an all-boys or all-girls school is better for some students. Just don't put me in one. Well, you can put me in an all-girls school... :D

No as it counts as segregation and is a breach of the 14th amendment.

It is segregation. It is no different from making ALL BLACK and ALL WHITE school districts. It will end up creating extra animosity when the two groups meet.

I don't think it's quite the same, especiallyif you give them a choice. Whereas a black man and a white man could work together without being sexually distracted by one another, classes in which males and females are present introduce the opportunity for distraction, which can possibly interfere with learning. I sure as hell know I was distracted :D (didn't interfere with my learning though as I already knew everything they were teaching me :D)

Do you think that the distraction that you (and others) "suffered" is a worse outcome than that which would be realized from segregating males from females in school?

I honestly believe that the best learning will happen (considering all aspects involved), when you are learning along side a group of peers similar to that which you will live the remainder of your life among. This definately includes people of the other sex!

For myself, I agree. That's why I said, don't put me in one. I think the choice should be open, though, for parents who has perhaps tried everything else or wish to try this first.

I respect your opinion, but I honestly think that going with it will create more problems than solutions.

I think it depends on the area. I live in a city where it is mostly gang controlled at the moment. At my sons high school the 9th grade girls they say are horrible slashing each other with razors etc. Fighting each other over boyfriends and relationships. Next year they are planning on starting in 7th grade that girls up until high school are going to be separated from the boys due to the fighting. Right now the middle schools are being strict with the dating and the hand holding and dating ( as best they can anyway)> Its really sad that things have gotten this bad. Friday my son came home and said that his male teacher had to get between two 9th grade girls fighting and ended up going to the hospital for a broken eye socket where one girl went after another with some sort of small pipe and the teacher got in the way.
So to a point i agree with separation at least for certain ages. I also blame a lot of tv for making the gangster life look so glorious i think this is why these kids are they way they are.
Another reason is the parents, but once again this is just my opinion
It all depends on the area you live in and whats going on at particular schools.

Here's my opinion on the whole "G" thing:

If the parents are aware that the child is comeing home late, and has sustained variouse injuries in school, it is the parents fault!!

If the parents work a lot, and never speak to their children becouse of it, it is the childs fault!!

If children fall for these crappy MTV songs, and violent rap, it is both parents, childrens fault. The parents are responsible to tell their kids that TV is not true. It is the childs fault for being so stupid and ignorant. Hoever i find it rare that the media is to blame, as they are only conducting bussiness and using their rights (first amendment) to produce, and air whatever they want.

I am a mexican, i was born in a poor community with a family that had nothing, i lived in "the ghetto" and i saw many gangster kids, you know happend to these people? they are either dead, or pumping gas for minimum wage. Anyway, my parents worked alot, so i rarely saw them throught the day, i remember i was already asleep when my father came home, slaveing for 10 hours, or more a day... So why am i not like those other kids? becouse, my parents told me to never believe of what i saw on TV, thanks to that, i dont belong to a class. By that i mean i dont belong to a group, i listen, watch and do my own thing, and stay away from these gangster comformists.

That's cool that you didn't fall into the gang thing. Around here it seems like they hunt them like prey their is a city park between Home and the High School my kids end up walking about three blocks around instead of cutting threw the park. As far as some kids go they are usually jumped in and i have seen this my nephew was hounded by a gang for months beat up every day and picked on at the same time if anyone out side of the gang messed with him the gang went after them so the kid couldn't win either way. The teachers thought he was part of the gang because the gang stood up for him in front of others behind the scenes the kid had bruises and burn marks on him. He was afraid to tell his parents at first cause they threatened him with so much shit it wasn't until a neighbor saw ( several times ) the kid being beat up by these kids that something was done. They went to the school and police and the kids backed off for a while but their were still times when you could just tell he was being harassed but the kid was scared and with out proof nothing could be done and the kid was too scared to stand up for himself at this point. Final solution was they sent him with my sister in law to live for the summer when summer ended they drove him out 45 minutes to her house each morning so he could attend a different school. It was a mess and the kid is still skiddish now and hes 19. I wasn't saying it was all the fault of tv what i was getting at is tv makes it seem so damn appealing and if you have ever had teen kids ( and i am strict as hell with mine) you will find out that between the ages of 13 and i would say 15, 16 they tend to think the parents are behind in the times and don't know whats out there. To tell you the truth i knew about gangs jumping kids in but i didn't know the extent they went to. The relentlessness of it is crazy. To this day i watch over my kids like a hawk. I try not to baby them but after awhile if they are a little late you start walking to make sure every thing is ok. I don't know how many times i met my kids on their way home from school and i would tell them i was just out walking ( so they wouldn't feel babied) but i do, do it, sometimes ill get a crawling feeling in my stomach and just go to make sure. Better safe then sorry is how i feel about it.

I have a feeling your kids are gonna be just fine, rember, if they make it through highschool, the only kids that are in college, are there by choice, and actually want to learn something....
