I have a problem with a couple of people at my work place. First off let me tell you it's a video store. Your probably thinking oh boy at thist point but please hear me out because i reall do need some comments and suggestions about this problem because i am totally unsure how to handle this problem.
I started working for this video company about 6 months ago i was hired by a temporary manajor ( til they could replace the one that was fired) i was some what trained by the assistant man. The rest of my training i had to basically figure out on my own with hit and misses.
The assistant we'll call here Katey at this point seemed quiet and shy at first also in the work place there are a few college students myself and a pregnant girl.
Jess is there for 4 years and it's her and Katey i am having really bad problems with. It started about a month ago.
Due to it being around the holidays labor was cut back i normally up until this point worked both days and nights depending what day of the week it was.
During the day time there isnt alot of business so we are given projects to do such as inventory ordering etc and on a wed and friday usually are hected days.
Well my problems started last month when i was working on a wed my district manager came in to help me orginize the games. First words out of his mouth where Katey is supposed to be here to learn this as her job not you so the district manager basically did it all on his own getting upset with how things wherent orginized it basically showed that katey hadnt done her job in some time. He was nice to me that day i was given about a ton and half more work to do ( he wanted things done his way) but all in all it was the usual do this this way im the boss and i was a manager of a store at one time so i know how to do this. He was basically cool with me and we got alot done. I worked til 5 that night he was orginally supposed to gohome by 3 pm but i honestly think he stayed around to talk to Katey.
I was off the next day and came in the following to find that katey ( and jess ) jess is a shift leader like me just has been there for a while wrote me up. i was mad but not because i got wrote up but because jess basically handed my write up to a gsr which is a lower level then i am and told them to go over it with me. How about the assistant having the balls to say it was her and jess that wrote me up and tell me why but this didnt happen as it turned out the district manager came in and we talked it over and what i was wrote up for was because he did somthing the day before wrong not me. However it was a computer erra and it should have also happened to the person that opened the day before so it was thrown out. He also explained that he told Katey to get harder on the workers there that she had been to lax, so hearing this i let it go. The next day came and went with what i thought were no problems but it seemed like i was getting the silent treatment. The following tuesday i had to train a new girl on opening procedures and paper work and when i went into the office to get a note book i found not one but two more write ups on me ( 3 is the limit after 3 your fired) so i waited til the assitant came in and once again the silent treatment. I waited 15 minutes after i was supposed to be off to count my drawer out because normally she would tell me when she was ready. The next day i came in to nasty little post it notes about doing this and that. Some of the things where never my job so i was clueless on how to proceed when i tried to call the assistant she didnt answer the phone and the tasks didnt get completed so more nasty little notes and more work. Finally i got ticked off and was about to call my district manager when he walks in and says that he has to do an audit on me. I took it in stride we went over the paper work and i told him why things wherent completed and i showed him the nasty little post it notes that i recieved. That it never showed me how to do anything and that i was just told to figure it out. For the most part this saved my ass and i also showed him the other write ups which where thrown out. Later after the audit i was told that there was a call saying i was costing the company 100.s of dollars a day in free rentals and mistakes. Between him and the loss prevention manager going threw everything with a fine tooth comb that it was all bullshit and the accusastions dismissed but my pride was still hurt and as far as katey went well i know she was talked to again and im not sure but i think she may have been wrote up.
Over the next week the silent treatment got alot worse there where no nasty little post it notes because i think she caught on that i was saving them.
Then here is the kicker the money in the house funds the overtrue draw and the cash drawers suddenly started becoming all screwed up where it now takes me a good hour each morning to fix. One day it may be short 35 dollars the next it may be over 12 then the petty cash which is only 50.oo to start off with was missing 10.00 when Jess the other shift came in to releave me i told her of the missing money she said i left you a post it note that Katey and i went to buy a calendar for the store with it. the funny thing with this is we sell calendars for a 1.99 at our store so why take ten to go shopping for a calendar some where else.
The next day the missing money was also mysterously back in the box.
As it stands right now my hours went from 40 to 25 and the work that is supposed to be done at night is always left for me to do during the day. Movies that are supposed to be checked in are all over the store not checked in like they are trying to get me in trouble for not checking movies in on time. There is trash everywhere that i have to clean the store before it opens and i have to stock the soda and candy that is supposed to be done the night before on top of this i am scheduled just about every day for 6 to 8 hours by myself with the extra work. I still get the silent treatment.
I talked to the district manager the other day and i mentioned that i am just fed up and about ready to quit He asked me what was wrong i said its still the same stuff only worse as before. I keep getting told to hang in there that the new manager will fix things but some how i doubt it.
I honestly just want to quit but i am 35 and was raised where you dont quit one job til you find another ( i am looking) but i worry about the money situation if one day somthing majorly will go on and i will be stuck having to either find the money or pay it out of my own pocket. I heard from another girl that this jess and katey are trying to get rid of me. I just dont know what to do today i have to go into work ( sunday nights are our hectic nights) and i was supposed to have 3 people now its just me for 81/2 hours. Tomorrow i open again for another 6 i just know ill have hell tonight and probably have hell all next week.
I have asked both katey and jess if they have a problem with me or somthing i am doing i get a no and the silent treatment.
