Ok so today at work i saw this woman who had 4 kids shopping... normally this wouldnt catch my attention BUT, all four of her children were on leashes... looked as if she were walking a pack of dogs.....I really dont even know what to say other than it shouldnt be legal.... she was yanking on the leash when they were going in the "wrong" direction.... Since when did it become socially acceptible to "walk" your kids??? If you cant teach your kids not to run off then dont take them in public.... or become a better teacher... I dont know i guess i just wanted to see what everyone thought about this...

Ok as a mom of 5 teenagers at one time a long time ago when my sons were 7,5,4,3,1 I was one of those moms that you see lugging two carts one full of grocerys and one full of kids.
I agree kids should be better behaved when going into a store and the parents should be responsible.
As far as the leashes go they have different kinds my cousin has one that attaches to her childs wrist, she doesnt let him out of the shopping cart but still keeps the wrist leash on and this is because there have been episodes where a mom has looked away from the cart to look at somthing for a split second and the child was picked up right out of the cart. Its sad in todays world that we have to be this protective of our kids to the point of leashing our kids but if its for safety reasons and not because you dont have control of your child i say yes to leashes.

Yea ok...the wrist leash for the shopping cart seems reasonable... but guiding your child around and walking him or her like she was a dog? come on.. thats not right... yanking on it when the little one walks more than 3 steps ahead? you dont think thats a little weird? lol, leash training a child?

I always look at the parent with the kid you have i would say 6 basic kinds of parents here's my list

1. the over protective yuppy gotta do everything i read in the book kind
2. the crack head just had another kids to get more food stamp kind
3. the new mom that's slightly paranoid but learning (not a good or bad parent yet to early to tell)
4. you have the tired parent that just wants the kid to behave but is to busy watching opra to get up to take care of the issue.
5. I wanna be my kids friend kind of parent
6. then you have me I am strict but i care. I am not there to be my child's friend i am there to make sure the child turns out better then i am. I am there to teach my child to be a responsible citizen and to care about others. I know where my kids are at any given time of the day. I insist on meeting new friends and knowing the addresses and phone numbers of where my kids spend the night. I am the parent that knows damn well my kids aren't angels but i also know that I've done my damnest to teach my kids what is acceptable and what is not.
I am the mom that will walk out side in pjs and bunny slippers and jerk there butts home when they are out after curfew.
The mom you described sounds like the mom that doesn't discipline her kid that is either two tired or working to hard to spend time with her kid. The type that comes home from work and says here baby i bought a new video game for you to play i am gonna order pizza and go to sleep.
So what did the mom look like anyway you have me curious?

Kids on leashes is a nice start, but lets evolve this to caging the little fuckers.

She was mexican, in her late 20's... dressed better than her kids... Not saying that you need to bling out your kids lol.. but at least make them lok decent when theyre not playing in the yard..

I think my parents had me tied by the belt to some kind of leash when we first went to Disney World, but that's understandable.

Ever seen O Brother, Where Art Thou? :D
