A little quote from Romans 13:1-2

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

Christians (especially fundies) apparently dont have a say in government.;)

Thats fantastic.

So when General Sputum says the only good politician is one with a bullet in his head, and that all governments are corrupt, he's also saying that about the God he worships.

:D :D

Stop interpreting things the way that you want to and try to interpret them the way that they are intended. This is a major rule in any structured debate.

"there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God."

Maybe this passage implies that (when the passage was written) there did not yet exist any authority which had been established by god.

So when General Sputum says the only good politician is one with a bullet in his head, and that all governments are corrupt, he's also saying that about the God he worships.

Do you REALLY think that this is what he is trying to say....once again I must insist that you interpret your opponant's debate the way that it was meant to be interpreted to the best of your ability.

Do you know the definition of interpretation?

How do you know how it was intended to be interpreted? I dont remember you writing Romans 13.

The official Catholic explanation is that we are bound to obey the government as long as it does not cause us to disobey God.

But the government is becoming too controlling, and by following any law that exists that doesn't go against the Catholic faith, we only allow the government to tighten their grip further.

My philosophy is that by blindly following the government, we give in to tyranny, which would certainly be contrary to peace.

So by disregarding bullshit laws, I am obeying God by not allowing the government to get away with their iron fist rule.

Yes, do you? What is the point of this question?

How do you know how it was intended to be interpreted? I dont remember you writing Romans 13.

I never said that I did know its intention. I am just suggesting that you try to open your mind to other possibilities and not insist that the interpretation that is most favorable to your own argument is the one and only correct interpretation.

I bet they're shitting themselves.

You keep criticising your Government, but when I do the same, you say I'm brainwashed.

What gives?
