Recently I began a job where I'm on my feet a lot (I'm a cashier but I'm doing random jobs until the store opens). My feet always hurt at the end of the day, so I got myself some Dr. Scholl's gell arch supports. Surprisingly they helped out a great deal. I was on my feet for hours today and they are not sore at all now. Don't be fooled by the squiggly line texture in the gel, because that side goes down. But that said I'm pretty happy with them. I naturally stand up a little straighter, and my feet are not fatigued at all. And I'm a little taller. :D

Don't you have to stand up a lot while working in your wood shop? What do you wear there? I think the problem is having to stand in one place for long hours like a cashier does. Being on your feet but moving around a lot seems less stressful on your feet.

In bootcamp, there was a saying it's all mind over matter...if you don't mind it don't matter. We stood in the same place w/o moving for hours with an M1 Grande held straight out in front of us with arms fully extended. You tend to learn that there are definatly worse things to be doing then standing perfectly still for hours. And no, those Drill Instructors were definatly not gellin like Meglin.

I'm not usually in the shop for long periods of time actually, but I wear the same shoes I basically always wear. Standing in one place is exponentially worse, but stocking all day was a little taxing too.

Of course, on Thursday they had me working loss prevention while the people from the jewellers came over to set up the displays. In other words, my job was to stand and watch an extremely cute girl with an amazing body work for about an hour, which included watching her bend over many times. That was an awesome job. :D
