One of da things they do in my area, the little commerce town of Gerona, is translate what they say from Catalan into Spanish. They don't make the effort to speak the language properly, preferring instead to create this little hybrid tongue. That's a piss poor way to encourage people to speak Catalan cause the locals don't wanna speak Spanish themselves.

So if you want to translate Catalan into Spanish , just use this translator...

Thanks for the link, I'll make use 'f it, but this problem is really something that needs to be worked out among themselves. Either speak Spanish in its proper form, or not at all. I'd like ta see what'd happen if they decided to make Catalan obligatory for all people to speak and make a public declaration of it. Understand that what bugs me about the issue is how they use an undaground way to express how they don't like ta speak Spanish, rather than a direct one.

So a new dialect is born...you gotta deal with it , things change.

Am I sensing a bit of metathesiophobia?

On the contrary, I embrace change. I'm all for cosmopolitan societies that pay no heed to age, class or race. You two misunderstand the meaning of Metathesiophobia, cause it doesn't apply to me. But then again, thanks for the word. I'll add it to my vocabulary. :)
