Try and explain this one without God.

Parthenogenesis. It occurs in some lizard species, its just a new discovery in this particular species, in fact, it has already been observed in Komodo Dragons. It has even been made to occur in mice artificially throught the same process.

It in no way proves the existence of god.

How could it be possible without his involvement in letting it happen somehow though? It meaning parthenogenesis.

It happens in plants, invertebrates and some reptiles. Basically what happens is they provide the other 23 chromosomes needed to fertilise an ovum by themselves.

But where do you think that oppertunity comes from?

What do you mean?

What I mean is, where else would an organism get the capacity to procreate without 2 of them? Plants aside that is, since there really is no way to create new ones in that manner.

From evolution. The reason some species can reproduce in that manner is to provide a backup in case of lack of males.

And yes there is, they simply provide the missing set of chromosomes. A species with parthenogenic capabilities is biologically geared to provide complete embryos without need for fertilisation should the need arise.

An embryo has 46 chromosomes, 23 from the mother, 23 from the father. Parthenogenic species can create these missing 23chromosomes to form a complete embryo.

That I did not know.

However, the reason that we as a species dont practice it is simple; variation.

Sexual reproduction, involving two organisms, provides variation which is one of the essentials for evolution. This is the more preferable option.

Asexual reproduction, such as what bacteria practice, doesnt vary the organisms by much and so climate changes can wipe out a huge amount of the species.

Now parthenogenesis can be classified as both, since in some cases it provides variation, in others it doesnt.

Try and explain this one without God.

Certain african frogs will change gender in order to pro create ( jurrasic park ) and there are worms that are a sexual in other words they just become pregnant. Nature will always survive and adapt I am sure God didn't scream Hey you dragon become pregnant so i can show the world i am still around. If there is truely a god i am sure if he wanted to be noticed it wouldnt be knocking up a dragon for attention

One day god feels stressed, so he decides to take a vacation. The archangel Gabriel looks up some vacation spots.

Gabriel: How about Mercury?
God: Nah, Mercury is too hot. I god really badly burnt there.
Gabriel: Then, how about Mars?
God: No, their parties keep me up all night. Id get no sleep.
Gabriel: Well then, how about Earth?
God: NO F^&KING WAY! Last time I went there I knocked up some Jewish girl and I still havent heard the end of that.

:D

Anyway do you really think god would have sex with a Komodo Dragon? Oh! Does it mean lizards are now god's chosen people!?

hahahahaha and no i don't think god would have sex with a dragon i am just trying to get it threw ajks head that if there is a god i seriously doubt he would do somthing like knock up a dragon to prove he is around. Now if he suddenly made all oil free and stopped all the wars instantly and made everyone be nice to everyone else then i would have to rethink on my God issue as for now he ranks with the easter bunny and santa claus

But again that would defeat the purpose of free will. He's only going to present in your life if you want Him to. Not because He wants to, but because you want Him to.

Sounds like a kiss my ass and ill help you situation. Giving us free will but making us worship him in order to be save kinda defeats the purpose of free will doesnt it.

ajk

No because he's not forcing us into anything. Ultimately we control our fate as to where we go.

If its a choice between doing what you want and eternal damnation or doing what God says and eternal paradise, well to a gullible or superstitious person thats hardly a choice now is it?

Ajk
Me accepting a dragon being a virgin birth is not free will it has to do with listening to ignorant people if you believe everything everyone supposedly sees you will go insane. Its like some one seeing the image of jesus in a potatoe skin its just plainly stupid and if you think about it why would some one use that as a vessel to be seen why not put fire in the sky and put a face in it why only show it to one person. It doesnt make sense

I wasn't even talking about that. I was just talking about free will in general. He wouldn't do stuff that would take away our free will. That's what I was trying to say.

Now, ajk let me ask your this; If god created everything, why did he create childrens leukemia? Or cancer? Or diesease in general?

Ausinus

You know, this article actually goes against the supposed virgin birth of jesus. We know that creatures are capable of self fertilisation, so in the virtually impossible event she did have a virgin birth, there is a viable explanation for it.:D
