My favorite is amaretto, though I will often mix it up with some vodka. And I can't say no to a good beer. Whiskey kicks ass, too. I also like everclear, though always mixed with something. I'll also just ask the bartender for some mystery mix sometimes. Hmmm....this all really says something about me, doesn't it?

Of course, it's all made better by a good cigar.

One of my most favorite things is a martini. Most people have mixed drinks in a martini glass and call it a martini. Here is my recipe for the two best martinis in the world:

Martini Shaker filled with ice
3 tots Belvedere Vodka (room temp)
1 tot 99 Bananas Liquor (room temp)
Shake shake shake and let the ice melt.;)

People who dont like martinis LOVE this especially when I add some sugar to the mix.

Martini Shaker filled with ice
3 tots Bombay Sapphire Gin (room temp)
1 tot Fernet Branca (room temp)
1 Katamala olive (only in shaker)
Shake shake shake and let the ice melt.:o

Pour and serve with traditional Martini olive. For dirty I usually use the traditional martini olive brine but don’t add too much because the Katamala olive flavors the gin perfectly!

Drink and ENJOY. :p

Usually I like the Bannana Martini with company and the Bombay Martini with chesse and a movie or a good book!

Great fun!

Personally I try not to conform to social norms. Many people feel that the more expensive drinks, or drinks that require more effort to make are the best. I on the other hand don't mind a good cold beer. It goes so well with my steaks and burgers, and is always available no matter how large my current budget crisis is:D

Perhaps I will inspire you to do the same? ;)

Many people feel that the more expensive drinks, or drinks that require more effort to make are the best.

Not on my end. I drink the best because I wish to enjoy the luxury of its flavors and feel better in the morning. I used to drink bartons vodka ($16 per gallon) and I HATED the drink and HATED the hangover.

Belvedere, Grey Goose and Kettle One have never given me a bad hangover! :p
And I can definatly afford the small amount it costs.

You know, I've never had a hangover, and I've woken my fair share of times without being able to recall the night before. The trick? I drink ALOT of non-alcoholic refreshments (pop, water, milk, iced tea etc.) when I'm not 'drinking'. I've heard that this helps because the hangover is essentially created by a water shortage in your body since the liquor dehydrates you more effectively than other liquids inside any drink can rehydrate you. Give it a shot, but you might want to find yourself a cathedar for the first few weeks!

I do have to agree with beezlebub with the martinis; they taste great. Frankly, I prefer drinks that taste the best. They just go down the hatch much better than the beer I've had; though, being a freshman in college, I have yet to experience any other beers except for Natty Ice, Busch, and one other, but you get the point (any suggestions for the future?) But as to my favorite so far, it was a black cherry vodka, though I can't remember the name. But, I have never had a hangover either, even after an ugly experience with Barcardi 151. I think it will differ for each person: some people will get hangovers constantly despite trying to drink water and gatorade to rehydrate themselves; others will never get one despite how much they drink. It depends on the body chemistry; though, I am not saying that drinking to rehydrate yourself doesn't have its use. It's makes perfect sense to me and probably does work for the most part.

I HATE CHEAP LIQUOR , it will give you a hangover no matter how much water you drink with it. And water usually prevents a miserable morning after. They have a million wonderful flavored Vodkas. Gin Sucks. Beer is only really good on a very hot day, then it is bliss. I love wine, but it makes me very horny, so isn't always a good idea. My current fave. Jello shots made with everclear, or deisel (190 proof), you almost have to freeze them to make them set, but it's worth it. The sour or intense Jello flavors work best.

That's your problem, you're drinking the water WITH your liquor. I've never had a hangover, and never drink anything except liquor when I'm "drinking." I also always buy the cheapest liguor I can find. The point for me is to get drunk, it doesn't matter much how good it tastes because it is the after effect that I'm looking for. Still, when I'm not "drinking" I am drinking other liquids quite often, and that is what I attribute to the cause of my pleasant mornings whenever I do get drunk. ;)

Paisleyspeaker
06-14-2006, 08:40 PM
I don't drink often so it doesn't take me much, so it's not about quantity. I tend to drink vodka and cheap vodka always gives me a headache. Decent vodka does not. I usally drink a chaser, jiuce or soda with it and water the rest of the night. But they have scientifically proven that alchhol effects men and women diffrently. There are enzymes in your stomach that I don't have.

My favorite drink is hot chocolate. It's like crack, seriously. I haven't had too many alcoholic drinks so I can't say for sure, although when I was in Italy they had this stuff in Capri they called Limoncello, which was very good. It was made with Capri lemons. I've had small shots of some other stuff but only enough to get a taste of it, and I'm not even sure the name of some of them. I know I've had Galliano.

It is odd having a disscusion about drinks with a group of people who for the most part can't legally buy it yet. A tip I shouldn't share for any 20 year olds who were born at the end of the year. When I was 17 I used this to buy cigarettes, it only works when the clerk isn't very bright. Just use your ID. I have watched people count up from the year of my birth on their fingers, get the right # and sell a 17 yr old smokes, because they didn't check the entire date. But you really should just wait. There is nothing grand about getting drunk. Buzzed is fun, drunk is usually regrettable.

Paisleyspeaker

I commend you on not getting plastered. Although BBO may disagree, the only people who think getting so drunk you puke is cool, are the people who do it. The rest of us find it pathetic and slightly disgusting. Now I must admit to enjoyiong a nice buzz, but still in control, no stumbling, no vomiting, and still no driving. I believe it is far easier to never put myself in such a position, then to spend the rest of my life regreting it. Drink at home.

Far from it. I enjoy getting drunk, but puking is the last thing that I want to happen. I like the buzz, and I stay away from the people who insist on chugging another bottle of Vodka after they've had more than enough. Generally I stop after six drinks, at least until I start feeling the buzz go down. And I never drive or do any stupid shit like that. I was almost killed by someone who did when I was just 15, and I don't think that I would have anyways but this incident made it damned certain that I am always more responsible than I need to be.

Same here, BBO I agree 100% with the use of alcohol. However; I would like to add its not only the "drunk" I enjoy, but it’s the alcohol itself. I love a good alcohol and hate the rest. Mostly, good alcohols cost but not always. Lately I have been enjoying Sevdka Vodka - very affordable yet on par with Grey Goose (defiantly not on par with Belvedere).
