I like to go to youtube and play the Marty Robbins songs. whatever your choice of music, it seems you can find and play it there.
Eye - I'm glad to see (nope) that you're bringing one of your faves over. Congrats on the winning concept. Now, please, do tell - how do you post a youtube link so that it shows up like your first post did?

MrRee, if it says the generic message about going to youtube to listen to it, you can still post it and when it is clicked on here, if like at other places, it will open a new window and play it.
Hi yee-haw. That is what I like about music, so much to pick from. A thread like this can allow people to hear things they never would otherwize also.
Like some country for MrRee. Ghost Riders in the Sky.

Hit post reply, second from the top right there is an Insert Video, click and a window will come up, copy and paste the link and bingo....
You need to pull the link from another place first. Or have another window open. :)
Oh, I see it doesn't like just the song - gotta write an intro to go with. Okies, we learn something every day.

George McCrae. This one was written by KC and Finch but they discovered the Sunshine Band couldn't do it as no one could hit the high notes with such fine falsetto, so they gave it to George and he hit #1 on the R & B charts, the Pop singles in the US and the UK in 1974.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpAmu3pcunI&feature=related
Then there was the answer by his wife at the time, Gwen McCrae. No where near as good but did hit #1 on the R & B and was a Top Ten on the US singles chart. They split in 76 as it was reported George who had turned to drugs beat Gwen and their marriage ended.

The Isley Brothers have lost their groovemaster.
Marvin Isley, the youngest of the R&B siblings who provided the thumping bass lines that helped drive the band's chart success in the '70s and early '80s, died Sunday morning. He was 56.

I saw it Patt, and he really was a very late addition to the group. There were some R & B hits when he was with the band, and Who's That Lady you posted above was the main hit while he was with the group.
I like many probably don't give them enough credit for their contributions.

NOW Chuck plays country oldies and current country both in his band dates, Suzy threatens her kids if they think about changing her stations in her car or shop..
I like different generes, just prefer country most the time.. The Yanni stuff I played for the neighbor, there are a couple CD's in my case of his.. Chuck had to buy me a new Yanni CD after he threw one out the window that he accidently put in the player in the truck.. :o :D

Actually I have heard this a couple of times on JRR. I like it. I like a lot of music. I will admit it is more 35 years ago for me, like a Black Sabbath/Iron Maiden/ instrumental type song.
But I like the licks. Some of todays, what used to be called hard rock, I get tired of the vocals on lots of them,( I guess I am getting old as some sounds like screaming like Dad used to say) but just music, most of them I like. The real Head banging type stuff, NOT so much anymore.
PS, the old screaming I still like............................Usually.... :D

The day you actually like this song is when you will start appreciating all music.
I never said I appreciate ALL music. I said I like a lot of music and I like a lot of types. Music that gives people enjoyment, is good music even if I don't like it.
It is NOT up to you or to me to decide what is to be appreciated. All music is NOT made for all people.
It would be like me saying you would have to like The Carpenters, Johnny Cash, The Monkees, Bach and some Pavarotti all at the same time or you don't appreciate music.
Good music is music that gives a lot of people pleasure. It matters NOT who likes it or what we like personally.
The main thing is for people to enjoy music of whatever type(s) they like.

Del Shannon was one of the most talented artists of his time but was a very troubled soul. He committed suicide in 1990. He was to take Roy Orbison's place on the Traveling Wilbury's after Roy's death. Del did not think he was good enough to do it. After his death the remaining Wilbury's did "Runaway" as a tribute to him.
Here's one of my favorites by him.

WOW!!! The memories that come back listening to these oldies... ;)
I could do this all weekend and probably NOT listen to all the music from back then.. There was nearly as much as it was called then "country western" mixed in on WJJD as anything else so we never changed the dial..
BUT on Saturday night it did get changed over to WSM out of Nashville for The Opry, my Dad's radio night.. We could get WSM most of the time unless there was a storn between Nashville and Central IN..
That was when the airwaves were much clearer than now..
Wanna do some old country stuff????? Tomorrow night??? :D
eyeonyou
06-11-2010, 10:32 PM
I am NOT as big on old country. Some I like, but it was really in the 70's and 80's when I started liking quite a bit of it. It's like today, I am a 50% country fan. :D Some I really like, some I don't like all that much.
But sure, I bet it will be fun.

I saw about 20 minutes of this years CMT Awards show the other night and turned it off.. VERRRRRY few and far between even resemble country music these days..
There is a new guy Jamey Johnson that comes real close.. When he went to Nashville with this song he was told it was TO COUNTRY for today's market.. First year it was out he won [song of the year] as a new artist.. TO COUNTRY indeed..

Country today has a lot of what would have been Pop/Rock stars because there is no market for music like that on what I will call the "Kids" stations. People like Keith Urban and many groups had to get airplay on country stations so they twanged just a little to get popular. But most of them would have been on Top 40 years ago. So I understand what you are saying. Me it doesn't bother because it is more my style of music than the old stuff. But some of it was very good too. Like

Elvis won the competition!
The OLD stuff is what I grew up with, BUT the 70's/80's style of country is my favorite.. Taylor Swift and the teenie boppers like her should be on "Pop" stations NOT country..
When Bon Jovi can make a country song and it be as popular on "Pop" as he is on country simply means he is a preformer who can adapt to whatever he wants to do.. Same with Darius Rucker, NOT many black artists will make the attempt he has for the country crowd and be successful.. Back when Charlie Pride started out it was kept fairly quiet that he was 'black' until he had a couple hits on the charts.. That was wrong, BUT he would NOT have made a career for himself otherwise.. Sad but true..

"In the early 1960s, Henson moved to New York City to work on a variety of projects, including a regular guest spot on The Jimmy Dean Show for the first Muppet star, Rowlf the Dog."

If Dad was here he'd hit me for posting a country song for him. He hated country music. But this one is so true.

One of the groups my son currently plays with.. Lake Eva park in Haines City last Sunday [Father's Day].. Chuck's on drums here.. :) They have more videos that will be posted later this week.. They are MUCH BETTER in person than on these videos.. The young lady playing bass guitar has only been playing it for about a month..

Bass and drums at the same time... This was [pre chemo] for Chuck, he now has very short hair..
WOW, Sara needs a mike.. :D :D

Hey eye, should I tell her/Sara about Professor Becky @ Florida Southern?? Sara starts there this fall..
I don't think I would. Now if she started talking about her I would. But if she was my daughter, I wouldn't. I wouldn't want her to feel uncomfortable just if she even saw her.
Or she might start some evil gossip about her with her friends............ Ooh................, uh no, it might save her some grief................But.............Well......... ..........
Does being unsure dreaming of some retaliation and retribution cloud my judgement? Uh No, don't tell her.
But............NO eye, behave.
Am I talking to myself again? Yes! Well alrighty then as long as you answer correctly. Did I?
Yep, but I am confused and torn...................................
But please post any new videos they put up please. Psst, tell the camera crew and the sound group, better lighting and yes a mike for Sara. Cool, will be looking for more.
I had that same conversation when I found out she decided to go there instead of FL State due to scholarship stuff.. :D :D
Sara is Chuck's 'lady friend's daughter'.. 18 just before graduation a couple weeks ago..
IF you go to YouTube, click on the [videos link] above the video, there are currently 6, I think, listed on the channel.. :) He told me someone videoed the entire afternoon on Sunday.. He is breaking it up into individual songs and posting it.. They will be there again for Haines Cities' annual Thunder On The Ridge for the 4th of July celebration..
Damnit - a good in to get to Pickles and it's NOT taken because we actually adhere to our ethics......... All I have to say is...
