Just bought Avatar DVD, not bad special effects wise, ho hum on the story. The concept was based on computer geek stuff (an Avatar is an alternate personality or alternate you) and was a bit corny.

Question: what if your avatar body is eaten by some hungry animal when you are not projected into it? What, do they hide when you are gone?

There was a scene when they were being "chased" by the bulldozer when she (the female alien) had to drag his avatar away from the bulldozer or end up crushed. He "woke up" and was just able to get away. His avatar body still real even though he was out of it.

This is a james cameron flick and brilliant as usual, Alot of political over tones like all his movies but a very well written and told out story.
The avatar was a false body controled similiar to the matrix in order to infiltrate there village in order to get their fingers on what amounts to todays oil.

The matrix required a telephone to get back to reality through an exit. I don't recall that happening in Avatar.

The difference being is that unlike when you die in the matrix.. it don't work that way in avatar, If your avatar is killed you simply becom unplugged from the computer whitch allows you to host and control the avatar.
If you're not plugged in however your avatar will just lie dormit in a suspended state..

I just finished watching the movie for the second time. I like it. It has a great topic: environmental degradation and the connection with all other living things. I also liked the fact that the bad ass commander was killed by the female Navi in the end. He was a total ass and deserved it royally.

It's quite simple acutually, They're not like smurfs or something..not A sexual, Kinda like regular humans and birds mate for life.
Once the connection is made thru ewah... they essentially become life long mates, Sorta a mixing of the souls in away and once this introduction happens it's the only one they can mate with.
Not really a sexual thing so to speak but more of a commitment ritual.
