I must say, I commend you for coming forth and actually enforcing some reasonable rules, however, I'd like a few things clarified.
"Arguing" is flaming, while "debate" is actually constructive right? I ask because 'arguments' are used in the process of 'debate.'

Also, I don't think we should just ban certain subjects all together, rather, make sure they aren't directed just to flame. That is that I think freak should be able to post his opinion or new light about gays, but needs to take it from a more open perspective, instead of taking an article, shoving it in someone's face, laughing, and then refusing to listen to rebuttal, instead ignoring points all together, or twisting them beyond reason.
I also think that there should be an actual reason posted along with a statement. For example, if someone says that "homosexuality is wrong and immoral," they should have reasons ready, if not posted already, backing that statement up, and they shouldn't be afraid of criticism.
Finally, I think another qualifying factor should be if it's someone's only topic. If someone only posts the same arguments, or never applies their perspective to another subject (e.g. a socialist perspective of the health care bill), that should be considered.

Again, just suggestions, and partially questions. This is ill-composed; I'm tired. I may come back and revise this later to make more sense.

I guess what I should be doing with that rant is asking whether you're banning the subjects all together, or whether you're banning them in non-constructive situations.

OK, some good words there to be sure. But how do you define the difference between a "debate" and an "argument?" That is a very gray area, mang. And how do determine threads "started for the purpose of arguing" as opposed to debate?

And Freak there is just good common courtesy in refraining from a coarse way of referencing ones facts. They can be couched in a reasonable and rational manner,,,,,,without demeaning or getting personal because someone thinks differently than another. There are lots of words available to me or any one else in a heated debate, that does not attack the person, but instead, rationally gives the other side of the coin.

There has been by far much more posts on abortion, guns, evolution, etc. It really only seems like a lot because it is coming from one person, me. In reality, there is little on BS about homosexuals.
