Try Ubuntu Linux, or just about any other Linux or Unix Operating system, they are free and have great resistance towards viri

I will be installing Ubuntu or edubuntu on one of my PCs, and Mandrake (Mandrave) on another.

And before you schoose, remember, when there are viruses on the net, they can go right through an open window, but when they attack a linux, the penguins fight back.

Same here, not until they are up to SP 5 or 6!! By the way, Microsoft has just announced that it will be supporting Windows XP until, wait for it...2014!! What are they trying to tell us, that Vista is not much of a real upgrade to XP? That Win XP is plenty of operating system for anyone that can do what we need and they know most of us will be using it for a few years to come? That they believe that we will be using it until 2014 and beyond? WTF?! 2014? Maybe they know that a lot of people are saying "who needs another fucking Windows upgrade!?" Not me!! http://forum.bullshit.com/images/icons/icon13.gif

Microsoft Extends Windows XP Support To 2014

The extended support for Windows XP Home and Windows XP Media Center matches policies already in place for the business-oriented Windows XP Professional.

So I may assume that you use Linux? If so ....

Can you run all MS programs?
Is it free?
What are the bugs... if any?

I have considered buying a new laptop and I am very interested in using Linux.

I have so much freakin' discontempt for Microsoft and its new version of windows every other year, I would not purchase a new operating system until society forced me to.
