My X husband.

Real life experience here. I'll tell you a story here we go enjoy the ride.

When i first met my x husband i thought he was just kind of backward with the whole real life thing. He seemed like the kind of man that just didn't get away much or out into the world he seemed calm and nice.
Not long after we were married i went down to Louisiana to meet his family. His father and a fellow church member came and picked us up at the train station. On the way home i started to realize suddenly what i married into.

Lets see remembering back i remember first off their trailer, It was a 12 by 60 ft trailer and they always kept the blinds down in the house and even if they did open them you would have had to take a pressure washer to them to see the outside. I always knew when it was getting dark outside because the roaches would start climbing up the walls big ones and little ones alike. I would freak constantly but i realized what redneck meant when my mother in law moved the wall calendar and it sounded like rain falling as she sprayed the raid. If that wasn't enough if she would be cooking dinner and one of the suckers ran by her she would slap it dead with her hand. Out side they had a picnic table that they put their dirty dishes on hoping it would rain and help wash some of the crud off ( needless to say in about 2 weeks of that visit i probably lost 40ty pounds from not eating) They didn't have gas to heat their house or cook with they used a ringed up pro pane tank to cook with and just lit the burners on the stove to heat the house when it was cool.
These people also had a bathing problem they where to lazy to do it. This became a problem with my x a few years later that's why i slept on the sofa and went two years with being married and not having sex with him.

His family was real religious when they went to church they hooted and hollered and claimed to be saved mean while the old man would play hooky and smoke the home grown pot.
When my nephew got sick they took him to the church first and the doctor was a last resort.
and last but not least my x brother in law was named Deano and was known for digging old used panties out of the trash and bringing them home to sniff ( and yes i caught him in the act because even i didn't believe it at first)

I live in the South But....., I don't have a Rebel Flag in my front yard. My house doesn't have wheels. There are no empty beer cans in the back of an old broken down pick-up truck nor on the ground in my front yard. I also don't have six or seven broken down vehicles in my yard.

My wife is not pregnant. I don't have a coon Dog. There is no black or decay in my teeth. Plus, I have all of my front teeth. I have no Oder of urine near my front porch. I don't shoot my rifle at the neighbor's cat just to scare it away.

My air conditioning is not that of open windows. My swimming pool doesn't consist of a hole in the back yard which are used by the pigs for wallering.

I don't use the terminology of " Hoe Down", "Ya'll" or "You All". My name is not Bubba. I don't have a pipe made from a corn cob. My water comes from the city supply, not from a had pump in the yard or well. I'm not raising 9 or 10 kids, just to avoid income taxes.

My BBQ Grill doesn't consist of a 55 gallon drum cut in half. I don't have any animal parts tied to my antenna (ie. coon's tail). I don't go to the Bars just to get drunk and start a fight.

Every other word out of my mouth is not a curse word. My baths are every night and not saved just for Saturdays.

I guess I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture.

So with that said....., Do you think that I, being from the South, am a "Red-Neck"? Well.....Do Ya?:p

Although, I have to admit. I am referred to as the "Boy from the South" by my in laws in the Dakota's.

His family and his ways is why i got divorced and besides that he got violent towards the end when i wouldn't go in half with his mother to buy a nsty small piece of land. I just couldn't bare being with that family anymore they knew all my business and drove me and my children nuts. I am not saying all of the south is like this but, if you go to lake Charles Louisiana you'll understand what the term redneck means.

To me the term redneck is putting some one down that is why to my southern friends i would never call them by that name. I think the comedians that talk about red neck really are just thinking that the stories they heard about so called red necks are just made up.
Larry the cable guy is a prime example if you ever watched the movie those of us that lived around people like that didn't like it. His truck for instance in the movie looks almost exactly like my x brother in law deano's car he would only open his window a crack and attempt to spit sun flower seed shells out most landed in the window and on the window and stuck. Most however where let on the floor boards of the passenger seat along with trash. In the summer time he had roaches living in that car it was so bad. Which is just nasty. When i lived in Louisiana i had a few normal clean friends but i also knew of a lot of nasty people and to be honest its just how most of the back wood swamp people are raised. I stayed locked up in my house for the most part because personally i couldn't stand it down there. I had neighbors that thought my house was the corner grocery store, you don't know how many times the next door lady would come over and ask to borrow food for the week because her husband bought a 24 pack of beer twice a day and used up the grocery money. This same man claimed to be strong catholic and kept getting his wife pregnant ( against their church to use birth control supposedly) neither of them worked and she became pregnant and had two miscarriages in less then 6 months the doctor told her she had a 95% chance of having a severe down syndrome baby ( which is why they think she miscarried the two that year) and still the husband wanted another kid ( they had a normal 14 year old girl and a 12 year old boy at the time) she ended up having a boy that has severe down syndrome and the first thing the husband did was come over to my house to ask how to apply for ssi ( for those that don't know it my second to oldest son is autistic) it made me so mad that this man had this baby to get a check so his ass didn't have to work. Towards the end of my marriage i was basically a shut in because i couldn't stand living around this stuff anymore. In fact at one point i stopped helping the family next door when the wife would come crying to me that she didn't have any food for the kids. She would knock so much on my door that i had to put a sign up that read * this is not the corner grocery store* * or at times no food to spare*

to me, a redneck has no negative connotations....this country was founded by rednecks, and in turn, survives by the hard work of rednecks...
the term was originally coined to represent hardworking farmers that were out in their fields so long that their necks burned. they CARED about their families and did whatever it took to take care of them. it may seem kind of strange to those who cannot help but picture a redneck as some fat, nasty, hairy, gap-toothed freak that drives a wore-out vehicle with sweet home alabama blaring from the 8-track, but when i call somebody a redneck, it's a compliment...to me, a redneck isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in, they (cause you can be a redneck woman, as gretchen wilson pointed out)
care deeply for family, country and faith, (not nec christianity for you athiests out there), they try their best at whatever they do, and perhaps most important of all, they accept responsibility for their actions without excuses...they can be anywhere, or from any walk of life, poor, wealthy, but mostly middle class...i know i'll probably get flamed for this, but i really don't give a rats' ass what ya'll think of me as long as i can honestly make you think about a subject that i believe in and can get a point across...

twisted, i am sorry to hear about your trials with your ex, but i will not call him a redneck....from the sound of it, you had it pretty rough all the way around, and i'm glad to see that you're well out of that situation...i hope you have better luck with men, nowadays...:D

and just a final note: i DO say ya'll a lot, and can get pretty bad with the cursing, but thatmight just be a byproduct of bein a truckdriver as well...
