It is not a church in meaning of the word. It consists of around 71 members of the same family of the leader Phelps. It is NOT recognized by any Baptist organization. Its sole purpose is a hate machine, its objective is spread harm, hurt and humiliation. My thoughts were directed more to the religious side of things, naturally and not to the rights to speak freely. That is a given here in America all but to a very few, who should and have been told to keep it private and at home. A contradiction really and convoluted, as a believing person is that all the time, everywhere within and without of their person.
But that would be another whole thread, the only corollary here it the misuse of a Christian and free right, to spread dissent, hatred etc. and make a mockery of the Gospel. And that is the goal, thier gospel of hate, real pity, but then most people see them for what they are...a cultic parasite feeding of a good and just way. JMO

What??????????????? That is what I said, is it not? As far as being up in someones grill just because they don't believe as you do on social issues, is done everyday on forums with the political war that is going on. Politcs is social issues or the governing of them in keeping order and some sort of peace in the community. The commuity is social, made up of people. Speaking what one thinks as in opposition of anothers views is gettting up in anothers grill, that is what debate is, however hopefully done in a civil manner.

I think it lies in the consequences of the message and the actions taken to deliver that message. What it boils down too is delivery with some respect, dignity and care or delivery just to incite, rile and incite hate. But what do I know, eh. I disagree completely that politics are social issues. Social issues are personal, politics is, for lack of a better word, collective. Social issues are how someone personally wants to live their life versus politics which is how the rules govern society, so that someone's social preferences are able to be pursued.

They are not one and the same.

Maybe they will settle down and cut the hell out of everything,,,to stop this bleed, but NOT until the people quit whining about having to live with the cuts, all of us!!!! We all have lived beyond our means and still want more, and the status quo, the world changes and if we don;t change with it, we are going to left behind.

It is a way of life and cannot be separated and bracketed from participation in living. But then that is just me, an old dinasaour that is best left to the bookshelves and history. Teaching the grandkids is the most important job for me anyway. The net is full of ..........yeah that! lol

I think a lot of people are looking for reasons to hate them as much as they show hatred. I don't care what they believe as long as they keep it to themselves and don't intrude their beliefs on other people. The fact that they do tells me it's fair game to meet like with like. I think people should picket their church with signs calling them mean spirited and hypocrites because I can't see how an accepting presence would think what they are doing is in any way right.

I don't see anyone as a 'special interest group' worthy of any 'special attention or dispensation'. Frankly, it's a bit of our history that I've always found puzzling if 'all men are created equal' no one is more special than another - not for any reason. And yes, that does include both sexes.

It owns the domain godhatesfags.com, and regularly organizes protests picketing the funerals of fallen soldiers as evidence that some higher power is taking revenge on our nation in response to rampant homosexuality. WBC also praised the Tucson shooter and planned to picket the funeral of 9-year old Christina Taylor Green, but Arizona passed a law blocking the protest.

Elizabeth Taylor's family mourned the screen legend in a brief private funeral service Thursday at a Southern California cemetery famous for being the final resting place of Hollywood celebrities, including her good friend Michael Jackson.

Inside the sprawling Forest Lawn Cemetery, barricades blocked access to the funeral, where about four dozen family members mourned the actress during a service that lasted about an hour, said Glendale police spokesman Tom Lorenz. Five black stretch limousines transported Taylor's family to and from the funeral, but no procession was held.

It is a shame she couldn't have been given the last great Hollywood send off that she deserved, but the family wanted a small "private service." They got what they wanted as no one was allowed in.

What is most notable about Sgt. Rogers’ funeral in Brandon, however, is what didn’t happen.

You see, the troglodytes from Westboro Baptist Church had threatened to spew their poison at Sgt. Rogers’ funeral.

But the Westboro mob wasn’t on the scene, and Sgt. Rogers was laid to rest without incident – thank God.

Why weren’t there protestors?

Planning ahead by the locals, as it turns out.


A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.

Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.

A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.

Fred Phelps, the disbarred lawyer and Democrat activist who leads the Westboro congregation, will undoubtedly pursue some form of legal action for the way his people were thwarted in Brandon. Let him try. There isn’t a jury in Mississippi which will see things his way.

This is a template for how to handle the Westboro people. If lawsuits don’t work, other means will. Whatever it takes to keep them from harassing bereaved military families on the day their fallen loved ones are laid to rest.

UPDATE: Some of the feedback we’ve received from this piece came along the lines that it’s inappropriate to refer to Fred Phelps as a “Democrat activist.”

We stand by that characterization. If anything, it’s an understatement.

Fred Phelps ran for major office in Kansas as a Democrat no less than four times. He ran for governor on the Democrat ballot in 1990, 1994 and 1998 and for senator in 1992. Phelps received 11,000 votes, or seven percent, in 1990, he received 5,000 votes, or three percent, in 1994 and he picked up 15,000 votes, or 15 percent, in 1998. And in the senatorial contest in 1992 he garnered 49,000 votes, or 30 percent. Phelps furthermore ran as a Democrat candidate for mayor of Topeka in 1993 and 1997.

Phelps also has been closely associated with Al Gore on several occasions throughout Gore’s career – Phelps’ son Fred, Jr. was a Gore delegate at the 1988 Democrat convention and the Phelpses hosted a Gore fundraiser in Topeka that year. Phelps claims that Westboro members “ran” Gore’s 1988 campaign in Kansas.

Phelps may not fit within the typical definition of “Democrat activist” some of our readers expect – but a six-time Democrat candidate is an activist Democrat. That is quite clear, as unknown to the public as it might be.

The Spencer family, Richard Dylan Spencer, 35, his wife Amy Beth Spencer, 34, and their daughters Chase Spencer, 7, and Ansley Spencer, 5, were all killed when their single-engine aircraft crashed into a muddy field just west of Perry Lake last Friday. The Westboro Baptist Church, infamous for its organized pickets at military funerals as part of its anti-gay agenda, is apparently targeting Sage because of his father's previous relationships.

Sylvester has asked that his family's privacy be respected during this difficult time.

"When a parent loses a child there is no greater pain," he said in a statement released to TMZ. "Therefore I am imploring people to respect my talented son's memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha."

Sage Stallone was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Friday, July 13. The Los Angeles Times reported Sunday that the Los Angeles County coroner's office confirmed the autopsy had been completed, but toxicology results and a cause of death are still pending.

Every creature that God created, He did so with free will to make their own choices on living in this world and the next. None us make all the right choices, that is the reason for Jesus Christ sacrifice. The choices we make are each individuals responsibility and choice. One can enter into the faith or not. The quality of our lives are important to show others how Christ taught us by example. Again, none are capable of living the faith perfectly, and so we need an advocate, Christ.

When we see others live in ways that our hearts and minds tells us is not right for us, we are to abstain from those choices...we are responsible for our own choices. On the final day of judgement, I will not, nor you have to answer for anything that another does...only what we did or did not do. And Christ Himself will judge us in so much more wisdom and righteousness than we can ever dream of having. One can witness to our reasons for choosing the faith, to those with open ears and hearts to hear it.....we may not or are we ever sanction or given permission to hate, coerce or hurt another person......we can have disdain for their choices,,,,,but they are theirs to answer for...not yours or mine.

You see Freak, neither you or I, are perfect enough, good enough, wise enough to know all things in order to judge another. We take care of our lives and live as an example the best we can. And this idea that you or I can tell another that they are going to hell,,,is the great presumption of the office of the Godhead, taken on by a mere human.

I disagree with you and that has nothing to do at all with my participation as a individual in the faith. I have no contract to sign...rather I need a fresh supply of grace each and everyday.....and I still mess up.......unlike you, I do not think that I am perfect enough to pass judgement on another at all. That is the big difference between us.....I am forbidden to actually hate a soul to death.....and that is what hate does to the person...it kills them.....it does not save them....it pushes them away so far that they become inacessible.
