Life After Death: The Evidence by Dinesh D'Souza. Just finished reading about the supporting evidence in quantum mechanics. A great book. Our resident Limbo would really like it.

Oh yeah, Mr. Jim, I have that and it is a very good read. Try some of his other books, they are good too!

He is quite intelligent and I love his style... what really caught my eye was that famous atheist Christopher Hitchens actually praised his work even though they are philosophical opponents. I can see why! :)
To be fair, I have read the counterpoint materials such as The God Delusion, God is Not Great, and Dying to Live. The theme is about the same, and purposely ducks and dodges those set forth by authors like D'Souza.

Yeah, I saw that too! Have you ever read any of Peter Kreeft or J.P. Moreland????? J.P. Moreland is an Anglian priest as well as a physicist. He is fascinating to read, especially when he writes for the general public. A little hard in places, but worth it.

Can't say I've ever heard of either of them, but contrary to popular belief among the atheist community, there are several recognized theists with a very high academic standing. Medical doctors which believe in an afterlife comprise 59% of their profession, FAR higher than the percentiles of other scientists which often have a generally lower academic standing. One ponders, could it be because of their actual experience with the dying on a regular basis?? Hmm...

Look them up if you are interested. And yes since the 60's there have been a rise in the number of anaylitical philosophers within the christian scene who can stand very well against the atheist worldview. Also like I mentioned in the Physics also.
Let me see, there is Dallas Willard, oh and Robert J. Spitzer, whom I am also reading now, called "New Proofs for the Existence of God", strictly based on physics and science, not scriptures. It is hard reading but excellant!!!
It is very interesting to me that Theist have more postiive posits to draw from with reasonable evidencial facts to pull from and to substantiate their claims, whereas the Atheist premise is based on the denial or negation of an acknowledge intelligible notion of God in the first place. Think about it! One has to entertain the very concept of God to deny it. lol And the answers to the ultimate questions are not there, for in a convoluted way, they are required to deny the ultimate as a after effect.

Well for the end effect that feels good.
For having to step down a level on the decency scale to do it, eh, NOT so much. But fighting fire with fire, like with like as had been said, works better than doing it with sugar.
I prefer the sugar route, but that only works on Sunny. Boy I hope I pay for this remark. :D

that's the funny thing...she's after her masters in early childhood education....she HAD to take a science/biology course and that was all they had available, tho she's never EVER had any sort of experience in microbiology....

I can tell you one of the things my niece told me about the class... if you STOP and then relook at what the page is talking about... not read "too much" into it, you will discover that it is a very easy course. ie... they went into a forest to study the nucleus of plants... then they broke it down from there. She loved it. Microbiology is a very interesting subject if you let it... :)

If you need help with anything let me know. :-)
You've actually come to mind a few times, not because I need help (I'm making an A) but because sometimes I see my professor's reactions to certain students, and they seem very much in tune with the personality I've observed since I've known you.
The big mystery to me is why the second semester of college biology has so much less chemistry involved than the first... perhaps they don't want students of other majors to avoid difficulty? Hmm...

On the personality - interesting. I would love to know what traits you are observing.
On the second semester or Bio II - This depends on the school you attend and what they decide the topics will be. Often this is the time for kingdoms, ecology & some evolution which has little chemistry. If you take Bio III you won't get any chem it should be evolution and population biology intensive.
What I don't understand is what you mean by this sentence "perhaps they don't want students of other majors to avoid difficulty"
Congratz on the A,.. feels pretty damn good eh?
I am taking a class "Hierarchical Linear Modeling" that's kicking my ass. It might blow my 4.0 :-( I am starting to regret my pursuit of quantitative certification.

Well you get to pick and choose between the math and science courses and all of the first-semester science course have some sort of math involved - so no sneaking out of math to major in dance or philosophy or some other major like that. That's what I meant.

1) There is only one US government.
2) They couldn't help but overspend because all of FDR's Ponzi's unraveled.
3) Some Congressional leaders overspend far more than others.
