View Full Version : Recycling Causes Pollution

At least around here it does! This jackass shows up at around 4 in the morning to dig through our recycling bins looking for those precious aluminum cans... of course in the process he scoots all the other contents of the recycling bin out of his way and half of it ends up all over the ground for one of us to (hopefully) pick up if they make it outside by the asscrack of dawn. Additionally, God forbid one of us leave a pizza box or something in there, for the stray cats will dig through everything trying to get a piece of it.

Recycling in this town is a joke!

LMFAO:D As the matter infact, the only thing that really pays of to recycle, the economy and the Earth, is aluminuim cans, since paper, plastic and so on, doesn't pays of, in neither ways.

Very true! So if all "recycling" does is get some weirdo to steal my cans, maybe I should just ditch recycling altogether and maybe take care of the cans myself. Or throw them away. Horse pussy.

Just throw them away, you have no problems at all with running out of places to make landfills on. It's we who have that problem, we're really running out of places to do anything at all in Europe :D

I wonder if we could load all that crap up, put it in a space shuttle, launch it into outer space and never see it again? (Of course if the shuttle fails, the skies would be raining garbage, but shit, no one else is trying anything).

A 30 years old, 70 dollars, Dodge can easey break a 100 000 dollars Mercedes in to small pieces, without getting any harm at all. Atleast that's what I heard :D

Someone already does. Their name is "GM".

Yes, GM and Ford. Between the two of them our landfills would be twice as high. But because of the hippies and liberals who buy their cars from overseas, their production isn't enough to make a significant enough affect on pollution, and they clutter up the roads too. :D

Imports are hurting our economy, but who's to blame for that? Big gas-guzzling mammoths at a time when gas is high, not to mention all the cheap plastic parts inside that just pop off after a while, mistakes made under the hood (Using DexCool coolant ruins your radiator)... I don't think I'll ever buy GM again. I never tried Ford, but I really don't like that particular brand either.

Of course, I used to swear by Chevrolet being the finest vehicles on the road, then I sat and watched two of them fall apart piece by piece, taking paycheck after paycheck over dumb shit anyone could have figure out at the factory end. Then the cup-holders, and latches for the visors and things like that starting just coming loose and I saw how cheaply made they were and thought, damn, Chevy sure pissed on me this time!

GM & Ford are in bankruptcy, Daimler-Chrysler (Dodge) ain't doing too good. All the imports are posting record profits year on year... Looks to me like the orientals would be a more likely candidate to buy out the american products and turn them around.

Even if an american company buys out a foreign company of course, only the $$$ says it's "american", the cars and their parts will still be manufactured in japan, china, etc.

Well, they are manufactured in america, but (GM at least) uses canadian parts! All the bolt sizes are metric, the machinery is on opposite ends of the vehicle, and my engine actually had the candadian "leaf" sticker on it...

....where do you live that people take junkers to the land fill? Tell those people the price of scrap has gone up. Or maybe we can negotiate broker prices by the truck load.

Solution: Put all your aluminum cans in a separate container (trash bag) for the bum to take.

Solution: Sonic animal repellents - I have seen this work with many animals. Hook it up near your trash cans & presto : throw away pizza at your leisure.

Good advice, but,

Problem: If I'm going to give the bum my aluminum cans, I'm giving away around 90% of the practical recyclable material.

Problem: If I pour ammonia (or some other "repellant") on the material I'm recycling, won't that contaminate it, defeating the purpose of the recycling?

I think that he is taking them to be recycled to get a little bit of money to buy booze with. So it gets recycled anyway and helps a bum. Save your change when you go to the city.

Its a sonic (sound) repellent. No chemicals.

Ok, I buy that. But just because I don't like bums and this guy gets on my nerves scattering my other garbage, I'll just get those bins out there about 9:00 in the morning of recycling day, since the trucks come between about 10:00 and 2:00. It just sucks having to get up in the morning when you have a night job.

Thats a good idea. You could also put dog poop in the garbage. That usually deters our bums that rummage through our grabage.

Well, we're back to tossing cans in the recycle bins again. The bums can have them all. Our last trip to the recycling center was a nightmare. 35 cents a pound to wait in line behind all the idiots that stole copper wiring and pipes. A year's worth of cans = $30.00

Not worth it.

Holy dog shit, you're better off getting the deposit for it.

You can avoid the littering though by just recycling aluminum. Last I knew, that was the only thing worth recycling, as plastic requires more fuel to recycle than it does to make new.

I refuse to recycle though, it's a waste of my tax dollars.

In Haltom City, recycling is required (or at least the fee for it) so might as well save trash bag space. And I agree with you that many of the commonly recycled produced are a total waste of energy.
