Thread: Audi Wins At Sebring!

Thumbs up Audi Wins At Sebring!

Spent the day with friends sipping Champagne (just sipping since I really do not drink) and enjoying watching the Sebring LeMans series in Florida!

Yep, I hope that really pisses off the LIBS whom just HATE when ANYBODY but THEM enjoy the good life!
    Eat SHIT PromIDIOT!

Audi won with Style. You can't beat their TDI when it comes to LeMans.
They aren't squat in Formula 1 racing, but they rule LeMans.

If any have not experienced LeMans nor Formula 1 racing, it's VERY different from NASCAR and/or Indy car racing. It's much more refined in the stands. We had an air conditioned skybox. There is a lot more high-dollar there. It's mostly ruled by foreign auto companies, however, Chevrolet actually had a good showing in their class. Must have been the bailout money!

HEY,a fellow FAN of LeMans! Do you enjoy Formula 1 too? Amazing. I thought I may have been alone.

    First:
Had no idea that race was televised. Very cool.

    Second:
As a person whom actually owned a Peugeot when I lived in France, I would have been AMAZED if Peugeot won.. I'm amazed the wheels don't fall off when they make forward progress of any kind! HA!
Sorry, but if you owned one, you'd understand. French engineering is not exactly stellar.

    Third:
Yep, I actually DID enjoy SCCA. If memory serves, I THINK I attended a race at Watkins Glen in the late 80's. Don't hold me to it, but I'm almost certain.

    Finally:
Very cool you actually watched this race, mang! Very cool - AND - Great you are getting in to LeMans and Formula. If you live in Pitts, you should check out the American Lemans that runs at MidOhio north of Columbus every Summer. The Acura Challenge.

So Zack, you are an Audi fan?

I have been eye-balling the A4 lately. Seems like a nice mix... luxury yet practical. My father-in-law told me that he would never recommend anyone buy a mercedes, and beemers seem bloody expensive for what you get. I do like TLs too (Acura). The newest models look ugly though... too many sharp lines... I'm bigger on rounded curves for some strange reason

Have you ever owned an A4, and if so, did you like it?

Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties."

    Yes sir.

    I've owned a 2000 A4. Traded it in last year for a 2007 A6.
I also own an Audi A8. Nice. Blows any other auto I have ever owned out of the water.

Let me preface by saying that I have owned Benz. I had a 2000 S-500 (their flagship) at a cost of $85,000 at the time. Nice car, but NO WHERE NEAR the luxury or fit/finish of my A8. No where near. I'd put it up against Benz or Beemer ANY day.

The A4 was terrific. Nimble, powerful and dependable. I had the 1.8 Turbo. 30 mpg as long as I kept my foot out of it. Put the pedal down, engage the turbo and you'd blow the 2.8 V6 they offered at the time out of the water, but your gas mileage went down to about 19 mpg. Your choice.
I think the A4 offers other engine options now, and I like the newer style and grill of the current models over my 2000 A4. And the new A4's are a bit bigger.

    Great car for the money.

Remember that Volkswagen, Porsche, Audi is a HUGE company and has the resources that very few foreign companies have. EVERY one of their vehicles are designed to run on the Autobahn all-out all-day at 100 plus MPH. 'Nuff said.

Any issue with Audi? Sure. Expensive to repair once they go out of warranty, JUST LIKE ANY OTHER GERMAN Import, AND, they are WAY OVER-ENGINEERED! But that's what I love about them. They are exquisite.

    Huge fan.

    Enjoy!

Jeeze, Mang, you've got this sport NAILED! I'm impressed. Nothing more I can add on Formula 1.

Regarding the Glenn, I am sure it was the late 80's as well. And later, I remember that I had purchased a Mercury Cougar in 1990. I remember because LINCOLN MERCURY MOTOR SPORT contacted me and asked me if I wanted to drive to the Glen, get a FREE PASS into PIT ROW (on turn #1), and actually do a PARADE lap on the track. I accepted and drove my Cougar there. They passed me through to the pits, gave me free beer and roast beef and anything else you could imagine.
I got to watch the Mercury Cougar team blow the shit out of Chevrolet Camaro. I am SURE it was staged, but it was fun.
Then all 200 of us got in our Cougars and made a parade lap. As we passed the grandstands, the Announcer said..
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Lincoln Mercury would like to present the 1990 MERCURY COUGAR!
And 200 of us passed the stands with our cars all shiny. Great marketing scheme. Only cost them lunch and beer. Now THAT'S brilliant!
