'Welcome Back, Kotter' Actor Robert Hegyes Dies, His Character, 'Juan Luis Pedro Felipo de Huevos Epstein' Has Note From His Mother Excusing Him
I can hear them now.........
In a note to Mr. Kotter informing him that Juan had died,
"Mr. Kotter, I send you this note. Please forgive Juan for missing school because he died."
Epstein's Mother
Mr Kotter of course will never believe this note either. I can see him rolling his eyes now. Juan always had a note excusing him from something signed "Epstein's Mother."
"Did I ever tell you about my student Juan who was always bringing me fake notes to get out of something?" said Gabe.
Julie his wife said, " Yes and you will again."
Now who's Vinnie Barbarino gonna tell, "Up your nose with a rubber hose!" He just said when told of Juan's passing, "I'm so con---fused!"
"Ooh-ooh-ooooh!, I miss Juan Luis Pedro Felipo de Huevos Epstein," Horshack cried.
"Hey, Mister Kot-taire, my assignment? Yes, Mr. Kotter. I had my assignment. Unfortunately, Juan has it and I could never ask him to return it now." Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington was always forgetting his homework and always had a lame excuse..
It was a groundbreaking show. John Travolta launched his career from it.
Most don't know that most of the major characters of Welcome Back Kotter were based on people from Gabe Kaplan's teen years as a remedial high school student in Brooklyn. He used them in his stand up routine and incorporated it into the television series.
The intro is 32 years after the show went off the air, then there are some highlights from the show in this link. It's from TV Land's 2011 Awards Show. Click it!
