Michael Bayless Fatally Shot By 3-Year-Old Son With .45 Caliber Handgun

A father in Indiana is dead after his 3-year-old son shot and killed him with a .45 caliber handgun, the Associated Press reports.

Michael Bayless, 33, was watching TV when his son gained access to the weapon and accidentally fired shots, (In the video, the officer says the weapon discharged) according to a local ABC outlet. Bayless was pronounced dead on the scene.

No one else was injured.

Indiana State Police Sergeant Jerry Goodin suspects no foul play.

"We think that this is purely a tragic accident that happened," the officer told WLBT.

Neighbors in Salem are devastated at the turn of events. Bill Smith, the owner of a nearby general store, called the incident "a sad day in a nice family's life."

Police will continue to investigate why the weapon was within reach of a 3-year-old.

If a child can get to your weapon you are an idiot. Or you could just be dead like this man.

Of course there were "shots" reported by the newsman. If that trigger wasn't shaved and the gun fired more than once, they might ought to look at the wife or someone else because when that 45 went off, the kid would have dropped that gun so fast......Just saying.....

Tavares Donnell Colbert (pictured) of Oklahoma City, Okla. accidentally shot himself in the penis with the same gun he planned on selling at a convenience store, NewsOK reports.

The unfortunate fella told cops that he bought the gun in Kansas and planned on selling it in a convenience store parking in the city. Before arriving at his destination, Colbert pulled over into a parking lot to check if the gun was working properly.

It was. As Colbert, 36, pulled it out of the case, he accidentally squeezed the trigger and pop himself dead smack in the Johnson
